  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Found this post from another web site in response to something Michael Sleeter (KTM test rider) had posted about Michael Hall crashing in Italy at the Husky test track. The post claimed the crash occurred due to something that broke on the bike. Does the E-Mail seem legit?


I recieved an e-mail from Husky this morning regarding the post I made about Michael crashing In Italy. I guess I was given bad info when I arrived at the track and the bike did not break. I want to say I'm so very sorry to Husqvarna for saying there bike broke. I should have never posted anything about a rider who had a crash if didn't know the whole story. Below is from Husky

3) What kind of proof you have that can confirm your post



If what you have said and wrote is NOT TRUE, but just the result of a rumor, or an idea you have on what happened, then we ask you to write a further post to apologize to us.



We are also considering to proceed through our legal department in this case.

Who knows, could be someone in their legal dept. As somebody posted in that thread on that site if you make something up and pass it as fact it is slander, if it's just your opinion no biggie. I doubt any company would spend the time and energy to do anything to an individual over posting a bogus story but who am I to say...

I am not in the know on who is who in the industry but if the guy works for KTM or for another company in the industry and posts something as fact with nothing to back it up then I would not be surprised he got that email.
 
If you read the thread you will find alot of silly ignorance over there,,,my team vs your team. I find us more intelligent to understand machinery, those guys are all US (Socal) Japanese centric Moto heads,,their time started with the big four and they laughed and slagged Katos for about 10 years plus a couple more years, but as soon as Katos started to get dialed and pushed the podium in they sometimes got on the bandwagon, ate crow or quietly joined orange. I rode Kaws then Husq then a bunch of years with Kato when all the locals (socal riders)constantly joked about the KTM there was nothing but the big 4 and for some there will never be. I think most of us here are Husky fans, but by the same token are smart enough to know that Aholas HM Honda is a bitchen ride, and that if we got a chance to ride Villopoto KXF250 we would be amazed,,,,,,,,,,,,I can't wait for the new TC250 when gets dialed with some pro-level riders and starts pushing the podium in the nationals, let them understand that it too is just a machine and it is just as viable as an option to win.
Shoot I may just feed their frenzy by reminding them that Ducati was a laugh in the early world superbike era and finally dominated there and moved to motogp and has won,,,,,,Ferrari was a has been marque until Mike joined the team with Brawn and built a new Italian F1 dynasty beating the hell out of the Japanese factory engined cars, forget it that would take logic and a completly different mentality to understand (they would need a dose of logic) I will just stick around here with my peeps in the cafe!!
 
I just had a bit of a read through that other website, what a riot! It’s kind of sad when people get some narrow minded that they feel threatened whenever something changes in their little world. To be fair, Husky has been a non-entity in pro level MX for many years so it is pretty tough for the die hard Japanese MX crew to accept that a new brand is capable of competing with the big 4 (5 now that KTM has been accepted by most). Should be an interesting year this year to see if the new TC has the goods to match the big 4 at the pro level MX.

For now I’m happy to take my old Husky to the track knowing the chances of it breaking are next to zero and if I need to change jetting, adjust the valves or work on anything else, I can do it in a few minutes between motos or practice sessions and be back on track passing Japanese bikes before my heart rate levels off. Some people like to take bikes apart and spread parts all over their garage to make adjustments, I just like to ride. To each their own. :excuseme:
 
I am still tempted to flame the fire with a little dose of info........like OEM Excel rims, Kokusan Ignitions, Keihin FCR carbs, etc etc .
Truth is our brand is still on the up curve and has been a little below the MX top level curve,, but alot of narrow minds will change when we get some upper level guys on the new 250 and we finally see a new gen MX1-Motocross bike using the X-lite model, hopefully a 350 sized machine if not a 450cc model!!
 
Pretty ignorant reponses to that post. If you search "Husqvarna" on that forum you turn up another classy result.
 
The response from Husqvarna comes from the right man to react so it appears legit to me. Martino is responsible for all racing activities and press launches.

I love reading threads like that. It makes me realize that no matter how dumb I get there are always a bunch of retarded monkeys to make me feel good about myself.
 
Some old farts on ProRide had to drag out the old "Swedish Huskys are better." BS. It makes them cool with the "Dudes", I guess?
 
This is a really odd situation, and I'm not sure what, if anything I should do. Probably nothing.

I would appreciate it if people could try to refrain from judging others in way that is abrasive. It is crystal clear that things on other sites are quite different than on Cafe Husky. I applaud them for having their own place where they can discuss things in a way that they prefer.

We certainly do not need their attention brought to this site, although this situation is one of the many reasons that people need their first post approved.
 
Coffee, I apologize if what I posted came across as abrasive. That was not my intent with the post. I read that post on another site and the responses to that post was just hammering the crap out of our beloved machines. I remember a time when Husqvarna was king of off-road in every facet and when I see idiots trashing them it just kinda boils my blood. I'm of the idea that the more mfgrs. on a starting line of any race is great. I was just trying to get an idea if the letter Mr.Sleeter received was legitimate, because it sure has stirred up a hornets nest of animosity towards the Husky brand.
 
No one said anything terribly wrong, and yes Martino is definitely the person he says he is. I do find it a bit strange that he sent the email, possibly he is unfamiliar with what type of reaction he may receive on a forum such as that.

I read some threads over there, some pertaining to Husqvarna bikes, but did not see the particular thread in question. But did read enough.
