• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What type of fitness training, if any, do you do?

I'm 45 and lift weights, do INSANITY, some P90X plus other types of fitness (was at the gym this AM doing cardio + abs).

I don't know that I'd have "as much" endurance if not for riding though I can take a beating pretty well.

I've been retired 15 years, 67 years old. Go to the gym and do 40 min. of cardio and 20 min (3 days a week). of machines, mostly to keep my back stable. We skied 4 days in a row in Mammoth this last week and as I relaxed and got a little more at ease on some runs I was able to ski further into the day without a stop at the Mill Cafe .... I stand a lot when I ride, sometimes go 20 min. to half an hour.

I do the RAW fitness. Its a workout designed by Ranger Battalions to prep soldiers for Ranger School. If anyone's interested...

It utilizes simple exercises and doesnt require a lot of gym equipment or DVDs. I cannot say enough for pull-ups alone. They were a big boost for me after doing this workout.
Around Page 70 of the PDF you will find a schedule for a 6 day week.

I just started these, and let me tell you!!! Holy Sh!t am I dead after the 30/60 sets.

I know its a totally cheesy marketing site (yes I bought the music) but the music is perfect and really motivates me. I don't have to think about a thing, I just run according to the beats. Its really easy.
Ive only done a week of it then I got sick but this workout seems to blow everything Ive tried out of the water.

I don't do much riding, but as 'team' manager the rider has been set up with a personal trainer that took an interest
in learning what type of training 'dirt' riders would need.

Forwarded a couple of good links to race sites with videos to give them a better picture, directed them to places where Ryno or Raines clips were avaiable to see some methods...

Seem to be concentrating on lots of low impact core stuff, along with lots of low impact conditioning stuff and constantly pushing the water at all times during a workout.

He's where he's at now...and it is making a difference. Hopefully it makes a difference at the track!

Wouldn't even attempt it!

Ya....I'm gonna keep this.

Actually, I used to train for endurance when I was young and competing in motocross and grand prix. I'd run cross country almost every morning on a somewhat short course through the hills, then ride a two hour session on a local practice track three times a week. I had a second shift job, so my days were free for such activities.

These day, getting to ride a dirt bike is about all the physical fitness activity I can stand. I try to ride twice a week and go for a walk a couple times a week, but quite frankly that's about all my body, back and knees can take!:oldman:

Competitive tournament level Football (SOCCER) for many years, got me very high endurance started, that ended, legs and lungs were top notch , then mtn bikes, legs and lungs strong, that is still there but minimal. now its 99% moto seat team with an occaisional good cause 5k run walk/walk run, legs are now twigs and lungs hurt..... And eating well and adding some supplements as well.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Since I got out of the army 3 years ago...simply put, I'm in the worst shape of my life. I'll probably do what I used too that way I don't need to go to the gym. After all, paying for a gym could go towards better things like a portion of a bike payment :)

I'm 52 and take keeping my body as fit and solid as I can.... I used to belong to gyms but my time is pretty limited for that during the week..... In my basement I have free weights, power tower, crunch machine, recumbent bike and a Marcy all around gym. I work different muscle groups on different days....For Cardio I ride my recumbent bike on my off days from lifting..I like to hike or ride my mountain bike when I can too... I used to get gassed after a hard ride and find that if I keep exercising it really helps my stamina stay high... I think one of my favorite exercises I do is a hard ride in the woods.... It works me pretty hard and builds a lot of endurance.... It really works a lot of muscle groups including my legs which I really don't work enough in my work outs..
