• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What's my 1984 400WR worth?

Was rearranging some inventory today for cleaning and pulled out a couple of bikes I haven't paid much attention to in a few years. I bought this bike about 15 years ago from the estate of the original owner; it had about 700 miles on it then. Now it shows around 1400. Motor has never been taken apart on my watch; last time I ran it was about 5 years ago. 1984 400WR Husky.jpg Could I get opinions from forum members on how much the bike is worth?

i would say 1500-2000...but thats from a husky nut...looks like a great rider...

its a one year model you dont see much so maybe more...depends too on what shape wera items are too..has a the suspension been serviced after all these years?

I would be most concerned with corrosion in the water pump area. If that checked out I would think you could get 1100/1600. You should be able to get the 1500/1800 if you drained the old gas, cleaned the carb and got it fired up. Also the front brake cable is not routed properly and is dangerous don't let anyone ride it like that . Look at some pics on this site and you will get an idea how to do this.

yes, if someone can test ride it and it rips like it should and everything works right that will help alot....problem is most people see that bike and say what an old piece of crap....not many know how good these bikes are...especially the 400, my favorite husky motor, followed closely by the 87-88 250

84 is the 1st year for the 400WR, making it worth more then the 85 WRX & one of the best woods bike Husky made, so you shouldn't have any problems selling it. Though the economy still sucks, u shouldn't have any problem get $1100 min, i stupidly sold mine, a really clean one for $2K 6 months ago.

Let me turn it around. Last two BMW era closeout models I am watching Both $5999 asking but they seem to accept about $300 less in prior phone calls. 2013 te449 or 2013 650 Strada. What do you think one quarter one third one sixth? Or a 25 aniversery husaberg te250 $7699.
They dumped 2004 bikes for low $ A lightly used wr250 (2004 or similar) would be worth more in my opinion, I guess it is all relative. 2002 six speed 360 might be kind of another option for a husky "nut"

For a potential purchacer... what you really want is one not used too much.

Like for example the 1985 400WRX I have . It had one year of competition, a full rebuild by Husqvarna, turned back to the original owner, then put in store for 22 years. Maybe 2 hours of use by the 2nd owner, then no use by me as of yet as I have been correcting storage issues like clutch case rot. The engine and suspension are all in top shape, the brakes are new condition(OEM shoes). And yes, I do feel such a bike is worth far more than a rolling basket case.

The 1984 400WR was made for 2 years, 1984 and 1985. The WRX series was a mid year release

This is for sale, Craigslist Arkansas. Last I checked with the owner was still for sale. Been thinking about buying it but decided not to. So for anyone interested , go chase it down.

Swedish built Husky only made for 1984 and 1985.
Complete original bike with new front tire.
Motor rebuilt 2 years ago by previous owner.
Motor has good compression and should run with minor work.
Great for post vintage racing.

I agree. Some crazy good deals on leftover brand new bikes the last few years. How about an aprilia v-twin for $4500. http://tinyurl.com/kfjh6sb
Also the chinese import beginner bikes at about 1/2 the price of japanese.
I think this has affected the vintage bike prices, maybe about 30% less than about 5 or so years ago.

OK, decided to sell. I'm offering it to the forum members first. Taking offers in the $1600 neighborhood.

I paid that for my 400 (aussie was near parity with us) then spent a further 1500+ plenty of time to have a near rebuilt totally (ordinary looker) bike.
I had to replace the clutch cover and water pump bearings seals but got away with just doing the engine bearings..big end and piston rings used as purchased.

they are a great bike in the scrub, no doubt about it, turn better and float more than the early 80 models and ya cant go past that engine for smoooooth easy power...

a mate here wants one but im not sure he is interested in importing one.

it should walk out the door
