  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What exactly do you need done?

Anodizing current rims or new rims, stripping, painting or polishing hubs, new tires, rim locks and tubes - in a word, "everything".

If you aren't going to be doing it yourself, it likely makes sense to simply pick up a new wheelset instead of having that done to your current ones. Are your rims in good shape or are they all dented up etc? It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was cheaper to buy a brand new aftermarket wheelset, swap over your rotors/sprocket, and sell your old ones than to have your old ones modified how you said. It might make sense to set up to some billet hubs while you're at it...

A friend of mine had a wheel built by someone up in Petaluma a couple years ago, I think he charged $75 labor to build a wheel from scratch, including free trueing for life. If you're interested I can find out who it was.

I don't know of anyone selling new wheel sets for 80's Husky's.

Sure I can buy rims, spokes and have someone lace and true them. But I want to keep the original Nordisk rims to anodize and have my OEM hubs polished like glass.

I would be interested in hearing of your source.

no way I'd run those old rims unless it's for show only. the seam welds always let go & crack.

Really. We've never, I repeat, never had problems with late 80's Nordisk rims. We have however busted up some pretty new Excels and D.I.D's and rims.

on my 86 Husky the Front wheel Nordisk seam weld started to split we sent it over to Rob North:thumbsup: and he welded it and never looked back. So re-weld is an option if they do split. R

Plan on approx $400 per end. new wheel with ano, new spokes , laced and trued, new rimlocks etc... You supply a good hub with your new powder ( or polish) and they do the rest.

Coastline Metal Finishing in the OC

714 895 9099 ask for Sone one big Samoan dude.... or Eddie Padilla

They will strip to perfection, give you whatever finish you desire and re ano .

Not cheap but they do amazing work. You get what you pay for. I went through 7 plating and finishing shops before I found them.

He also has a company he works with on the polish. Talk to him about it.

I run about $150,000 worth of work through their shop every year.

Hey Husky T,

Nice job on the rims!

How do you get your pictures so large?

I have a photobucket account ( free)

Go To PB and create your free acct.

Copy your pics into an album on PB.

Name them.

Click and highlight on the IMG link that will appear below the pic on PB.

Right click and Copy.

Paste into your thread on CH.

Preview thread

Submit thread.

( note- once your pics are in PB dont move them around into different folders or any posted IMG links will be lost on your CH post.... I found out the hard way... so once you create your PB album don't mess with it.)
