• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Which GNCC is more fun??

Wanting to run a GNCC. Just wondering who has run the different venues and which one would be better, Steele Creek or Big Buck. Thought I read where one or the other is pretty beat up and no t very fun, will be on the 300 BTW. Thanks, hope to meet some of ya there.

All GNCC tracks are beat up. I would say go to Big Buck since it seems like they switch it up a little every year and maybe put in some fresh trail. Steel Creek has the hills but seems to be the same track year after year.

I think joe-d has the track analysis correct. As for the rest of it; comparing the two...

- Access wise? - Steele Creek can be a pain getting in, out and setting up; one-way kind-of, sort-of deal. They do the best they can but sometimes you have to wait for the atv crowd to get out before letting the bikes in...the first time we went there, very confusing.

- Spectator wise? - If you're going to bring the family, kids, mom, whoever... Big Buck is better. Lots of food, venders and track viewing spots, great place to hike to action spots.

Just my two cents...
Let us know where you're going to be...

Stay the hell away from Florida....nice location but unless you're really into long, unforgiving miles of deep, dry sugar sand that clogs filters unrelentlessly(not to mention your nostrils and lungs) ,you might want to forget it...although after seeing reports from there today, the ground is wet(raining like a sumbitch down where I am now)the temperatures look really good for the race day. I ain't racing ,but I SURE AS HECK GOING TO BE CHEERING:applause: THE FAR HUSKY TEAM AND ANY OTHER HUSKY RIDERS THERE:banana:.

Thanks for the info. Norman, I went back home to PA last year to ride the Rattlesnake and had a great time(5th in MasterC, 1st time riding the wr300) but won't be able to get up there in July this year. And guscycle, I'm with ya on FL. after 6 weekends in the woods with course layout and raceday yesterday with the Alligator, I need a break from the sand..... Thinkin I might go with the BigBuck, it's only about 6hrs away from Daytona. But gotta go pull down arrows and get ready to go watch the FAR boys kick some at the GNCC tomorrow.............

FYI Lafferty won Alligator #12 yesterday, by 2 minutes over Bobbitt, the rain you saw at the SX made the course almost perfect

...OOPS...I don't pay attention to rider location on avatar,street2dirt....I really don't need to explain Florida to a fellow Floridian racer. BigBuck looks to be a good choice...

Another vote for Big Buck.

Another option may be the new Kentucky race this year. It's only about 5 hrs from Atlanta so maybe not as far as some may think. And it's the first year GNCC is there so it won't be beat to hell. Think it's in April

Arod, I've been thinking about that one too for the same reason, new track, new trail. But the BigBuck is only 6hrs away and KY will be an 11.5 hr drive for me. I'm also thinking in a couple years we may see the bikes race on Saturday with the Quads on Sunday............
