    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi I'm new here I'm researching an 07 sm610 and 08 sm610 both are about the same price I'm asking because I'm kind of wary of the first year fuel injection I'd like your thoughts and comments on wether the EFI or carberator is better. Thanks in advance.
 
I’m pretty sure the frames are the same starting from 06 all the way to 09
And the more I look at the 630 I’m believing they still have the same frame, bottom part for sure :excuseme:
In 08 they lost the bottom of the front forks adjustability which the technical name for it completely escaping my brain at the moment
The 08 came stock with fat bars
The 07 carbureted version have an optional large tank, the EFI don’t but that’s more of a TE not an SM kinda thing

In your particular situation do any of the bikes have something the other don’t I.e. an aftermarket exhaust or other goodies ?

Both have aftermarket exhaust the 07 has Leo Vince not sure about the 08 the 07 also has pro taper bars. the 08 has acerbis bark busters I think its called and both have newish tires. I'm leaning toward the fuel injection just worried about it being a new option for this bike. Also the 08 has about 4,000 less miles 1400 vs 5700. is this bike broke in @ 1400 miles

The `07 610's had FI in Europe. We didn't get FI 610's here in the US til `08.

The `08's had no compression adjusters on the bottoms of the forks. The internals are there, but there is nothing to adjust them with. You can get adjusters for them for about $90 or so.

It would seem at first glance that the newer model with less miles for about the same amount of money would be the better deal. For me, personally, I looked far and wide for a new `07 when all I could find were the new `08's because I wanted compression adjusters, a carburetor and a big tank on my SM610. I found an `07 and couldn't be happier. Not to say one is better than the other, the `07 just fit my needs better.

I bet you'll be happy with either one :)

The 610 Uptite Skidplate bolts right onto the 630. So that part of the frame is the same, at least.

2007 & 2008 are the same except for the carb/EFI. Everything that is shown to fit 07 will fit 08. Both are great bikes, I have an 06 carbed...after I got the jetting straight it's a blast. I don't know much about the EFI on the SM's. My sport bikes back in the day were able to use a Power Commander & FI maps to compensate for temp, altitude & humidity, I think you can do this to the Husky's as well. My opinion is EFI means something else to break, so I like the carb on my bike, but to each their own.
 
Carbs are nice because of the ease to break it down if need be, get a bigger tank, not to mention the ease of adjustment through rejetting.

I personally have an '09 and love the fuel injection though! When I'm cruising I get 70+ mpgs, which I think makes up for the smaller tank... I don't believe they changed anything in the FI system between 08-09; I know I haven't had any problems at all with mine *knocks on wood*

Other than that, if you're able to get either of them for about the same price, even though the '08 has less miles, I would go for the '08.

And yes, they are fully broken in by 1400 miles. The transmission will get progressively smoother, but they're ready to rip!
