  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Why no adjustable speedo?

Dear Husky,

You make a great bike. I love my 310TE, but how come you didn't add a simple little function like a second trip with adjustable incremental capability? I mean, the bike is pimped out and ready for Enduro except for that little lacking? Even for Dual SPorts, you need an adjustable trip.

So what do people do? I don't want to remove the stock unit. I guess I'll have to drill a second hole in the caliper carrier for a second sensor and add a Vector or something?

Oh well...........

you could run two just splice into the stock speedo wire and hook up a Vector... the problem area would be room at the bars behind the headlight.

I have been running a Vector this year- works great no problems. Does what we need for roll charts easily. I took off my stock one, but mine got damaged from riding in the rain for 4 days straight. NO big deal, its nice to have all the little extras the stock has but I never used the fuel indicator or really need the rpm gauge- biggest thing was not knowing if there was a fault code- but I haven't had a fault code... and that just says "hey its time to hook up to Ibeat" anyway....

Yes, it was a bummer to find out about the lack of an adjustable trip meter.
There is also the ICO Dualsport Computer with remote button; but not cheap.

Years and years of marketting bikes in the U.S.A. and manufactorers don't get that A resetable odo is a useful feature for American offroaders???

Italians just do not get some of our American details, they think an enduro is like what we call a qualifier type event.

Yep, familiar with the ICO's, have run them before. I still have a Vector I took off my 525 when I went back to the stock KTM odo.

I hate to say it, but KTM gets this item right! I have a spare KTM stock odo too! But my Husky would probably refuse to start if I put that on it!:busted:

My Vector it is. Drill and tap a new hole and I'll be good to go!

Thanks for the ideas.

I think the KTM computer will give you two trips, with one adjustable to zero and the other adjustable up and down.

It definitely does have 2 trips and they are as you say, one zap to zero and one incremental by .1's. I like the stock KTM unit. I put one on my 200XC but I took it off when I sold it, so I do have an extra one. Small and very easy to use. The bar switch you can get makes it perfect.
