• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Wiring help please, lynx fairing install

Husqvarna
B Class
I'm installing the lynx fairing and got the harness plugged in for testing.

I turn the key to on, the instruments all light as normal for the self check.

I get low headlight beam...but that's it

No turn signals, or flashers indicated on the panel either
No high beam flasher
No high beam indicator
No high beam light
No horn

The only thing not connected is the plug on the gas tank for the fuel pump. IOW the tank is still off. Is this an open circuit for the above issues? Or do I have something else screwy?

The starter will actually turn the motor too right now.

Not silly enough for me ;-)

You sure the motor has to be running for them all to work?

I wasn't sure...so this is likely my answer.

...thanks btw

I get a bit strung out tearing apart something that is working perfectly well :-)

Using the supplied relays with the Lynx, both lights are now wired from the battery directly, the low beam relay is powered by the "city light" aka "parking light" which also powers the tail light filament.

So that tells you your ignition switch is (at least partially) working, and your tail light should be on.

Ensure you are not turning your key past the run position in the middle. The 3rd position (clockwise) is "Park" and only lights the low beam and tail light. This is my first guess for your symptoms. Also the speedo will be off in Park position, but on in Run position.

The high beam comes on by energizing the high beam relay when you hit the high beam or passing light switch on the left control. The turn signal are on the left control also. These require power get to the left control from the ignition switch. Note that the low beam power from the control switch to the headlight is now unused (following the Lynx wiring directions).

Assuming the key is in the middle position ("Run") I would double check your left control harness plug is fully seated, as well as the ignition switch connector. On an '06-'07, and I suspect the same on '08-'09, the engine deos not have to be running for all this to work if your battery is good. Turn the key to run, but not past run to park, or else only the low beam and taillight will come on.

Aha. I may be turned to park as the ignition is just hanging loose.

Thanks for the detail. Will get back to this tomorrow as I have Field Day today.
