• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Woods rider/racers you guys still use cut down bars?

Just curious, we used to install KX80 bars onto our KDX200s back in the mid 80s. My 310 has LR cut down flexxbars on it, and I just left them as is. Dont need much leverage to turn the x-lite chassis so the tight bars are fine.

I just cut the bars down on my 125 yesterday after putting it off way too long. Every time I got into the tight stuff I was cussing and clipping trees. They were full width plus handguards, I took 3/4" off each side.

Later,

yours and Blakes 125 always feel wide at the bars with the stock stuff so I'm guessing my Trailtech woods bars are narrower stock. BTW you missed a fun rain ride Saturday.

I dont like the feel of narrow bars, so no cutting here. I'd rather clip a tree 1% of the time than deal with a goofy feeling bike 100% of the time.

I cut 3/4" off on each side of mine for the tight sections we ride in South Jersey.... The bike really handles well so I don't even miss the wider bars...

I measured mine the other day because they feel so wide. They're not, but I'll probably hack off a 1/2" per side.

I ALWAYS cut my bars down to 28.5 inches, But some of it is dictated by what state you are from and what you consider tight woods. Iv'e tried to run slightly wider bars, but I'm not really a smooth rider, I'm a little out of control and on the edge. The 28.5 seems to work well for me. I went 29 with my new bike just because it has a lot more power and is heavier then my last bike.

I used to cut mine, but now prefer regular length. We ride some pretty tight stuff where sometimes your bars will barely fit or you have to turn them to get through. I feel with the longer length I have better leverage and my arms stay in position better even at the expense of shaving bark off the occasional tree.
