  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi
i brought the bike 2nd hand and the original owner claimed 1000kms
since then ive done 1500kms (march 2010) so approx 2500km's

the compression was 190-195 psi before the rebuild. i took it out on the weekend to run it in, so i should check it again now. the bike goes like a rocket now.

here's the new topend in my HUSKY 250 2009 vs KTM 300 2010

The piston looked ok but the skirts were worn @2500kms
i wouldn't want to leave it much longer

the powervalve bearings were seized and full of carbon making it
very notchy

i haven't done the comp test yet, i caught a flu  after the weekend snow ride:doh:

I just did a comp test. The bike has done 5hrs since the rebuild last week, and started heaps easier +ran well:thumbsup:

The husky punched out 210psi now compared to 195psi (before the rebuild)

Both times i had warmed the engine/ held the comp tester over engine/ dry piston and wet piston/ 10 kicks /throttle wide open/ check psi.

Anthony I still don't get why you would want to buy a Gasser when you own the mighty Red & White? I took a new gasser for a ride this week(300) & its got nothing on my Wr300. The husky has more power every were compared to the Gasser. The Gasser is not as aggressive though, then again my 300 seems to have more power than my old 360 even after a rebuild. The 300 dosn't tractor as much as the old 360, But when I change the gearing it probably will. Don't do it, stick with the red & white
