• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Wr250 clutch cover repair???

jcbr6

Husqvarna
I have a WR250 that has damage on the clutch cover from the kick starter. I bought the bike this way and it has a tendency to kick back hard on shutoff ( i think that is what did the damage)

anyone else have a similar issue?

Has anyone tried to repair these covers?

Not had much luck finding a clean clutch cover for sale. 1.JPG

By the look of the frame gusset in your photo I'm guessing you have a 73 - 74 MK frame 250wr. The clutch cover is most likely aluminum so yes the damage can be repaired. You'll just need to find a tig welder. If your clutch cover is not aluminum then it will be magnesium. 73-74 was the time when Husky began changing engine cases like the ignition and chain covers from alum to mag. I don't know if this also included clutch covers. There are many good covers on Ebay. All clutch covers from the 1972 MJ frame to the 1974 MK frame era will fit with the exception of the 74 250 mag and all the 125's & 175's.

Offhand I don't know what would cause your motor to kick back when its shutdown, Kickback is typically a starting problem. I would start with checking the timing, getting a new kill switch. If you're having other issues while its running that could provide a clue as well.
