  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

WTF?! TE511 Cam Removal

Avejoe

Husqvarna
A Class
Valve check and exhaust just tight and intake 2x spec. I want to adjust to high end of spec.

Is it possible to get enough cam chain slack so i can remove cams to get to shims without completely removing can chain tensioner?

I assume I must remove cams completely to replace shims.

If I must remove tensioner, sub-tank does not allow enough clearance.

How the heck do you remove sub-tank? I have it loosened but I can't get enough clearance between the motor and the frame tab where the motor mount bolts.

Advice?

Thanks!

Youll have to disconnect all the fuel lines then the two bolts for the sub tank one of them goes through the frame also take off the plastic frame cover and those aluminum metal bracket things not sure what they are called and undo all the fuel lines and one electrical connector (if you have enough slack you could move the sub tank then undo the electrical connector access is from the right side cut the zipties for the wiring in there to give extra slack) the fat hose that goes down between the sub tank grove in the back needs to be moved out of that grove that it follows then youll have to pull it kinda hard because on the rigt side its mounted to a stub with a rubber grommet that keeps the tank snug then angle it out kind of a squeeze. it was a pain but once you do it once its easy the next time be easy on the fuel line that connects on top the connector is plastic and has been known to crack.

heres a pic hope it helps the long one in the back is for that hose squeeze it out of that grove which ever way you can I disconnect that one from the bottom where it connects the clamps arnt reusable so I put new ones on where needed. big_husqvarna_tc449_2011_19.jpg
