• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi there wondering if any one out there has connected lights to a xc, got a 1983 xc 175 with a motoplat mini ignition can this be used to power lighting as i want too fit it out with the wr lights, if so how do i go about it

Are you planning on making it road legal Martin ? Or just white front red rear as per the old enduro regs from many years ago ?

Do you know what output you have from the alternator ?
I struggled to get the power required to run a road legal system from my 78 WR. I run a 35/35w headlamp (with dip). The rear lights and horn I run from a 12 volt high power R/C car battery. I tested it with the LED rear stop and tail on continiously for 2 weeks and then got bored ! Works fine for me.
Have a look at the next issue of CDB magazine. Every shot has the rear light on !

Unfortunately, the output from the old Motoplat was very very weak. It may pass an enduro inspection, but doubtful it'd be safe on the street even if it's "legal."

motoplat exc 3 fils c rost.jpg

MOTOPLAT XC = 3 cables
blue and black = HT
1 yellow cable light =35 watts !
(just froam front lights and réar )

MOTOPLAT WR = 5 cables
blue and black =HT
3 others cables = ligths !
(35 + 15 + 5 watts )

allumage SEM AMAL.jpg

SEM/AMAL
= 70 watts x 2
= OK ROAD LEGAL

PVL
=120 watts !
OK ROAD LEGAL

The stock Motoplat is 6V and wont really power lights other than a dim flicker. Get an MZ-B, its 12V and internally regulated so even at idle lights are full power.
