• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another question I have the old wiring loom but no switches, what do people recommend using for light swithes and kill switch.

I just wired it all direct, no switch. there was a std husky square killbutton the 400, plugged it into the spot on the coil for it.

would take nothing at all to grab a jap switch block and wire in hi low etc., use the horn as a killer

have choice your ignition
SEM or MOTOPLAT ?

We have installed the SEM ignition in it, the frame has the correct mountings to suit it so will give it a go first.
Have given it a kick and has spark will hopefully get it running over Christmas.
Will install the motoplat if the sem gives me grief.

Have had the xc running not real good but a start.
Also have just acquired some shocks to suit, got the 420mm ones to lower it a little for the bush.
When I rebuild the forks is it possible to shorten them a little to lower the front a bit?
Hopefully will have it ready for its first vinduro next month... :)

Hey all just trying to find out the type of fork oil and the quantity or level for fork oil in the XC?

Cheers Rob

How are you going with the 125 ? I'm on the sunny coast QLD. Australia. I have a 77 which is ready to when I work out the timing on the motoplat. Fork oil is usually 6 inch's from the top with forks compressed , some people will bash me for this but I find 20/50 engine oil works fine .

This is from the 81 tech ref in the vintage tech section. 1st value is for an oil change the 2nd is for a complete dissassembly

Thanks for the info guys, bike is slowly getting there lots of missing bits taking a while to get.

I wouldn't buy a bike like this again, one that someone has had a go at and just basically made a mess of it.
I have a KTM which needs lots of work also but at least it had just been sitting and is all complete and unmolested.
