• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

As of late I am unable to log into my "SFBayArea" you tube account. It wants me to 'associate' my youtube account with my other accounts.. and to be quite frank, I am really not in the mood to help out google/youtube.

Youtube was an ok thing to do for a while, but it has become a bastion of 'not good' things.

In case anyone does not know a few years ago I did a few videos on re-jetting a carb, how a carb works (AP), and how to check the valves on a 4st. At some point I will probably re-upload them to another video hosting account, or most probably host them myself - not sure.

I think your vids are really great. I don't know what it cost to host something like that, but I think they're worthy of the cost. Maybe someone would sponsor them ?

Get a smugmug account, cheap and you can upload hi-res videos all day long. See Jakes videos hosted there and the great quality as they are not smashed by youtube.

I actually used your vid to walk me through my first valve checks, very helpful.

I was coming from an XR so the whole shim o/bucket thing was a mystery. I'm going to have to look at the carb vid's now.

You tube just isn't worth the hassle. Generally the comments received are not the highest quality:
Do You Have The Racing Shocks For Her Like The Onse Thats On Like A CRF250R I Got One Just Asking If You Can I'm Planning On Getting Them Oh And Nice Vid
I've been deleting the really nasty ones though.

My current plan is just to leave that you tube channel, not much choice unless I want to link my other accounts to it. Cafe Husky does have a smugmug account and the majority of the 'how to' vids are already posted.

I've been testing Vimeo, it works much better than the cafe husky smugmug account. The smugmug people really don't care about the 'details' for the video hosting. While viewing / surfing when using firefox the videos may or may not work correctly. Vimeo works 100% of the time in all browsers.

So, just to be sure. Do you mind links of youtube vids on your site?. I have some presonal vids on YT but I am open to any suggestions. I have pretty cool dirtbiking vids I might like to share with Cafe Husky. I do agree about idiots throwing mindless comments on YT. FYI; of all the dirt biking blog sites this is by far the best one around. I tried to donate some money but it seems as though paypal never really finishes the process....pls let me know if any contributions from me went through, would be happy to through some money into the "kitty".

By all means feel free to post up videos.. from (almost) anywhere. Viemo seems like a nice place, but you tube also works.

As far as I can tell no contributions came through from you.
