• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Zeta Hand Guards problem

B-Turbo

Husqvarna
A Class
So i ordered me up some Zeta hand guards and XC protectors (with the flasher) for my 09 SMR 510.

I was super excited to be buying parts for my bike and when the package came I was even more excited. Im just excited to have this bike . LOL But then of course I run into an issue tonight as I was trying to mock up the hand guards.

Ik of course they r a universal fit so some things need to be tweeked, but my issue was with the hardware they gave me.
I thought i had this right but correct me if im wrong. I ordered the parts from solomotorparts.com for 1-1/8" handlebars (28.6mm). I searched before ordering and this is the size i think i needed. The bar end hardware does not fit  . The screw itself fits in the bar end but when i add the tapered nut and collar it doesnt fit inside the bar end at all. I emailed the site just before so im waiting to see what they say. Ik i can just go to the hardware store and find stuff to make it work, but i just wanna know if i have this right or if i screwed up??

The stock magura bars are small on the I.D. Some companies are offering parts just for the Magura bars.

The 1st set Zeta hand guard I purchased a few years back were like that. I ended up drilling the ends of the bars out.
The set I just purchased for my TR650 ARMOR HAND GUARDS Bend (ZE72-0101) came with two sets of inserts. Shown on their web page.
I also use Renthal Fatbar 1-1/8" Windham. Everything matched with no problems.

dammit lol well i will figure out something. just sux to spend that much on them and the hardware doesnt work :(

thanks for the help fellas :)

So i decided to take measures into my own hands :applause:

I rough measured the ID of the bar end and guesstimated 7/16 or 3/8. (was hard to tell by eyeing it quick before i left :p) All shopping was done at Home Depot. lol There i realized I believe the ID is 7/16.
I came up with 2 ideas to make the Zeta hand guards work:
1. Smaller bolts with smallers nuts to fit inside the bar ends with a snug enough fit to hold the nut in place while screwing in the bolt. Maybe 2 nuts, locking washers, ect.
2. While shopping I saw these "Knotting Anchors" IMG_20130414_163506_959.jpg and thought, "drywall anchors work to hold some amount of weight in drywall, so why the hell not try!" :excuseme:

The bolts I bought were M6-1.0 with matching nut, lock nut, and lock washers.
The "Knotting Anchors" are #14 x 3". Hollow wall, Medium Duty. If the pic isn't clear lol

I decided to just try the "Knotting Anchors" (idk why i put them in parenthesis lol) and not use the bolts. I also used the 'expending collars' that came with the kit kinda as extensions on the ends. Not sure how it will work, but if these don't work then i have a back up plan? lol

(this is just a rough fitting, bolts are not tightened down.)
