Call me crazy but I believe this thread was started by a member asking about the setups commonly used by 09 WR125 owners. I know some of you are passionate about the CR......keep that in a CR thread. Stay focused. Understood there are differences and similiatities but ......... Also, I too love the slick rip the CR gives but not everything is as open as the west and the flywheel weight and its inertia offer alot in the mud and slime. I wish there was a 125 with dual map and dual flywheel......and while I am dreaming.....a 200 cc version would be nice too. They are getting the most out of a 125..imagine what a 200 would be like.......and sooooo light too.

The 09 WR125 will rip it up better than the 2 CR125's i had and the last one was a ripper. More lugging power, good mid rip and lots of top. Very unlike the 08 WR125 i have ridden with a smaller carb that is very mellow but will billy goat up anything. Mine has the billy goat bottom with the CR rip on top. LOVE IT. just did 200 miles on tight technical and very steep stuff and LOVED it. Lots of 250/300/450's on this weekend, had no issues climbing all the hard stuff and staying with or in front of the pack. The 09 WR125 is a very good bike. Buddy with a very well setup YZ250 who tried it was very impressed with the motor.

    - make sure the new power valves are installed
    - Get the jetting sorted for your area
    - gear it way down for the tight technical stuff if that is what you do
    - Forks will get better, a lot better
    - Stock carb works great after jetting it for my needs

BTW, my bike runs very well from 25'-6000' elevation 50-100 degrees temp with no jetting changes or perceived lack of power when at the higher elevations. I thought this might be an issue but it runs great everywhere.

Biggest down side of the bike is the lack or range. With my accessory fuel setup I'm good for 70 miles.

I can't thank you guys enough, the thoughts expressed here are everything I was looking for. I don't mind the CR vs WR comparisons either. I am familiar with the difference and for what I do the WR is just a better fit. If I spent all my time in MOAB(wishwish), I would have the CR and fit the light like Ajax.

Looks like I will have the bike by Friday or so and can't possibly wait. I am like a kid on the night before Christmas, not a chubby 52 year old wanna be.

I will try the stock jetting but I am going to have a number of jets available to adjust immediately. I will definitely give the forks a chance to break in before I commit to a re-valve.

It sounds like there isn't a lot of bling and accessories made for this bike yet but I will be looking. Would really like to find a carbon fibre pipe guard.

I am buying the bike from Bill's Motorcycle Plus in Salem. He has been great to deal with and over the years I have bought quite a bit of old parts and take offs from him. Between Bill's, Tasky's, and Hall's in Illinois for Sunday nite parts ordering we have some great dealers available for those of us that don't have a dealer within 5 hours of home.

I have a number of guys that are already wanting to throw a leg over the WR125. I will report back all my impressions and the comments of the rest of the guys here.

Thanks again and keep the thoughts and ideas coming,
    Walt

I have a P3 carbon fiber pipe guard and skid plate. I'm not sure they are listed, but they have them.

I just rode a very nasty creek section with big jagged rocks. These pieces are more than bling!

Here a pic of a dirty pipe guard. I'll try take some better pics and post them.
