125-200cc '09 WR125/Updated Power Valve Ride Report

Does anyone object to me splitting up this thread? The last 14 posts were about a bike seizing up and does not seem related to the updated power valve.

I don't really care but it would seem cleaner to people looking through the threads a year from now when the power valve issue is long past.

Well I finally got my new P/V installed late last nite.
And went for my first rip early this morning.

Spent most of the day in very tight single track stuff. Some pretty good hill climbs. Stalled only a couple of times falling off the power band. And not quick enough on the clutch. All on hill climbs. But I tell ya this bike has totally been transformed.

It's like a Trials bike on steroids...plus a seat.

Log jumps and ledges are way easy. I love it. Finally got onto some straight sections where I could rip though the gears.

Now this is where this bike excels

All day I did well... but once you get this bike above say 6-7 thou. This thing will rip your hands from the bars.

Man this bike is a rocket.

Ya I did...Norm...I just wanted to find out for myself.

Plus I was a little jealous you got yours almost a month before mine was shipped.

But I'm one happy camper now!!

Nice. I was hoping someone would indicate that they got the new power valves in Canada.

You'll need some "Stickem" for you glooves once installed Troy.

I had a good running 04 CR125 which convinced me i could live with a WR125 as my primary off road bike. the powervavle fiasco was sucky and made me really question my decision. now after 600 miles on the WR125 I LOVE it. I would say it is better in most every way than the 04. More bottom power, slightly more mid and about the same top. Motor is very good and flexible enough to ride most anything. The frame and suspension are a lot better IMHO. I love how this thing handles. Liked my 04 as well but this one has a level of refinement i did not find in the other one. The forks on the 09 are freaking stiff for the first 400 plus miles but get into the good range with time. I'm going to have both ends revalved even though it does work acceptable well right now and encourages hard charging. The brakes are simply the best I have ever used on any bike. Other than the small tank this bike is more than i hoped for. I rode my beloved 08 TXC450 back to back with my WR and although i still love the TXC it feels like a whale now that I am on the 125... everything does. I am much less tired at the end of the day on the 125.
