My starter has been flawless but don't have much time with it yet. Did you find out why it quit?

Yeah, my starter has been good but my battery is going bad.

Also, couple things I noticed while going thru engine.

Top powervalve vent hose, connects to frame. Water gets down hose and gets into powervalve.

Under the stater is a swivel breather tube. I had some water up under ignition cover over time.
They used white litium grease on the flywheel ring gear and starter bendix.
So I may hose this swivel breather.

I am sure most of this is coming from laying bike on its side to pressure wash.

All the air box pieces/subframe need taken apart and sealed with rtv in all grooves before re assembling.

Watch your voltage regulator bracket up under frame. Part of bracket broke off and voltage regulator and wires were against the pipe.

Swing arm bearings @ engine are all individual needles. So watch when you pull swing arm, you don't drop any.

Everything on bike from factory was well greased.

only time my starter seems weak is if I hit it when the bike has sat all night in the cold & its under 40* out. Once I kick it & rip it for a little it'll turn over just fine. Looks like my riding season is over between hunting, work & snow on the way so ill be sending your carb back soon darty! Not sure what direction im going to go carb wise yet, ive got some time to think about it. Got some changes coming over the winter months, excited to see your new colors!

Not sure Walt i didnt want to take it apart in case it would void warranty. On the bench it will go if you tap on it so probably brush/commutator problem. Its small about the size of my 1/8th scale rc car motors

Power washing is the worst, and the best thing for bikes. I found more problems working on bikes that were pressure washed, mostly bearings trashed because of water. I guess good maintenance is in order for those who pressure wash. I'm one of them.

Just wondering how you guys compare 17 ktm husky 150 to old pre 2014 Husky 165. I did get to ride a 17 ktm 150 xc-w and really feel a te250 or 250xc-w ,beta 250rr might be my next bike. Sorry but 150 felt the same or less than my old 165 husky power wise and handling was good but if spending cash for new bike why not get get a little more power. Just did a 2 hour race on my 165 and guy let me do 1 lap on his new 150 ktm after race was done and I was not impressed compared to old Husky. Just my feeling and do not want to piss of anybody that love this bike. I know the advantages to a smaller lighter less powerfull bike but I have been riding that for 6 years and getting to the point where a little more easy to use power might help. Not ktm 250sx power just easy to use power.

Yeah, small bores aren't for everyone and sounds like you want a two fitty.

What you mentioned are good ones.

Sherco 175! If it wasn't so damn orange I'd want a '16 200xcw. Planning a trip to KTM World to ride some pumpkins, but agree. Very difficult to replace the WB165.

Norm, have you ever done a write up on how your 200 compares to a 150 or a 125? I would assume you have but can't remember, I'd like to read it again if you can post the link.

A riding buddy bought his wife a 2015 200xc-w that he let me ride stock before he detuned and lowered for his wife. I liked it but still felt like my wr165 just had more bottom end than my 165 but 165 seemed like it had more top end. Handling got to give to my 165 again that bike turns so well in tight stuff yet never give head shake at faster stuff either. I guess after 8 years on same engine and 4 on newer framed bike and WB165 motor with lectron combined with LTR suspension it hard to beat combination. You get use to a bike that is jetted right and handles and feels right it easy to see faults in other bikes that are not running or handling right. I did not win my class this year but got second in masters opens and starting to notice displacement disadvantage. View attachment 74209 IMG_0934.JPG

Acerbis fork protectors. They were the only ones who had yellow for the new style fork lugs last March.

Moving along and hope to make more progress this weekend on ol yeller.

Air box is sealed up in all the seams with black rtv. Air box took bout an hour to dig all mud out of seams.
Took bout 1/2 tube to seal everything but should keep water out.

Shock is done in all three colors.

Swing arm and linkage all done.

Spokes had anti seize on threads, which is a first I've ever seen from a factory.

    Back brake lever done.

Foot pegs done. Had blue anodized ones on but was too much of clash. So beed blasted them, polished the outsides and did rest in silver. Had to heat pegs up good to get all those Allen screws out. Then polished them back up since they are stainless.

It looks like you polished your exhaust flange and power valve flapper. Did you match it up with the pipe flange too? What was your Z dimension set at from the factory? Mine was a tad low at almost 37mm. I set mine to 36.25mm. Speck is 36.5mm. .010" isn't going to make any real difference, I just want it so that as it wears it has a ways to go before it gets low again. I polished everything up in the exhaust and matched the ports and pipe.

It took verrrrry little work to get the transfers matched up on mine. Ktm has really upped their game in that regard.
