So I have win8.1 and it does not support my email. So I use my cable for that service. I need an it guy, since I'm just a Field Tech. I'll just suffer like normal.

Hi guys, trying to track down the main clutch springs for this old girl. 1612 556 01 x3. Are there any springs that are compatible? I bought a set of the green 1st gear springs and 3 sets red springs for the 2,3and 4 from tritrophy on ebay. So now I need the main clutch springs. I know, I know The 500 is next, but you got to get the parts when they are available!:oldman:

I wonder if that is how EvapoRust got started. That is about what it looks like after a few months of work and I have cleaned motor windings that were submerged.

The main clutch springs should be available from Dave at Tritrophy. I bought a set as spares a year or two ago.

I got the main set of springs from Dave, and have a bead on some of the hard parts for this corroded trans. This motors trans is not going to be repairable. The hard parts are too far gone. So I have been trying to find replacements and use this as a spare. I got a couple of output gear sets and am still looking for clutch drums. Also I found a kick lever so I can put the other motor in the frame and see if I can start it, using the ignition and carb from the corroded motor. Thanks for the help.

If you are struggling send me some photos of the parts you need, I will probably have them NOS and/or used. But I am in England so postage will not be cheap I am afraid.

Thanks for the offer Steve. I'm not stressing on this motor because I have another that will probably run. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress. Chris

If anyone would have auto parts in the USA, it would be Joe Morel. He refused to sell his inventory as he wanted the last dollar in retail pricing. I have put his daughter Tina's phone for someone who had the same question a few years ago.

My last contact number for them is : 508.699.8053 Good Luck

I'm sorry to say that your looking at a hopeless case with that motor. The one way bearings are probably toast. It will get expensive real fast.I have a nice 84 AE500 for sale.In the end you'll be into it way more than just buying a running auto.Good luck if you push on.

I just emailed that listing, let's talk.
Just to reiterate. I am not dying for these parts. I have a complete 360 auto motor that only needs the ignition and carb which I have. I'm going to put the motor in the bike this weekend and see if I can get it to run. I appreciate all the parts help but like I said I'm broke and not in a hurry at this point. When I get some funding together I will probably start back on this motor. If you saw the start of this thread you'll see the motor is just the beginning of my problems. I do have some new parts for the corroded motor, just not all of them. I'll be PM'n you guys when I've got more money! These Huskys are costing me!! Can't imagine what dartyppyt is spending. Thanks again guys. Chris

Some new prices for new bearings are eye watering and I think this leads people to thinking their new and used spares are also worth that. I regularly watch NOS clutch spares go through evil bay at a ridiculous price but they just go through again and again. The market is too small and the few Auto riders left are getting fewer every year. Eventually people will end up with a lot of very expensive scrap:doh:

I just want to thank, AUTO for letting me check out the 500ae, it is a nice bike but as mentioned before I am having a lot of problems with my bike fund (why is it the catchall for bmw's and cats???) I'll keep working on the 360 and as a trail rider. I'll ride my first Automatic as a pile assembled from marginal pedigree. I have never ridden an automatic, and did not ride Autos. But it started well and looked OK. Thanks again Auto/Joe!! Chris

Joe Morel......I haven't heard that name in a long long time. Every time I'm in Attleboro I try to remember the house he ran his shop out of. I recall it was just north of Dick Bettencourt's Honda dealership.

Does anyone know the paint code for the auto tank? I'm also looking for the decals. I haven't got the motor in yet but will soon. Too many car projects this weekend. Whew!!
