So I got the frame blasted after my attempts to chemically strip the frame. The crap they put on there wasn't having that. I did the small stuff in my small blaster. I just got it all back from the powder coater, funny I just dropped it off this morning. So now to get the tank ready for the paint Marty gave the code for, where do I get the right size decals and the layout of the chrome panel? I did not see the panel layout in the Husqvarna reports. Any help is appreciated. Chris

    Chris,
The Panel layout pattern is in Husky report #19 on page 3 and 5. Hope this helps!

The patterns in the Husky club newsletter 19 say and look like they are for the CR "small tanks" and "small steel tanks".

I've also seen the pattern for the larger chrome panel area of the larger WR steel tanks circa 1978 where the chrome is about 3/4 of the length of the tank.

I have never been able to find the correct pattern for the 75-76 (maybe 77) WR (and Auto) with the larger steel tank and chrome panel that takes up only about half the length of the tank. Does anyone know where to get the correct pattern for the 75-77 WR tanks?

Oops! sorry about that. Maybe someone here has a tank that is original and can trace the pattern out for you and send the tracing to you? I would but I don't have a 75-77 WR tank that still has the pattern on it, they are all are rubbed off.

Thanks Marty, yeah mine came with the Chrome sides painted so I don't know . I'll probably go through Google photos and see if I canfund the automatic and see if I can come up with something that's reasonably close. But since it's all going to be new paint I think I'd like to make it as exact as possible. Thanks everyone.

I have a '76 auto tank with original patina and chrome panel. Is it the same as '77?

We hey Mick I don't know if they're the same pattern, my bike has a large steel tank so they could be different. I'm not sure, maybe somebody else will chime in. Thanks

I got the decals today, they are for a 1977CR and look like the same size as the auto. I'm still screwing with the decal and chrome panel placement. Are the decals the same size for the CR and AUTO in 77? I think they are close by looking at a lot of pics. IMG_20180924_164742.jpg1.jpg

I asked him stormer, he said the decals were correct but couldn't give me a number back from the front of the tank to start the chrome panel as he doesn't have a tank for a 77 auto. Can anyone get me that number (from the front of the tank to the beginning to the chrome panel). Thanks Chris

7". I have a 77 auto with the original tank. Looking at just the side of the tank, from the forward part of the tank back to the start of the chrome panel is 7". hope that makes sense to ya.

It's NOT from where the bolt is, it's from right in front of the "a". The tank has a slight taper on the front to the tab that has the bolt through. It's NOT the front of that taper either. 7" from just in front of that "a" to your red arrow. I think you got it. Lookin good !

Thanks redman, that's a lot of help! Going to paint soon, have my chrome friend seeing if he can do something about the scratches on the panels. Ps, this is not my tank, just a pretty clear picture from google.
