Its the silencer support that does that.
Later i am going to make one out of titanium and match the angle of the rear shocks.
Have you ever ran a Mossbarger reed block? looking for more mid to top.
If i ever did another resto i would like a 1982 490 spider, next to husky`s they are way cool.

I have a better Idea. Get a sleeve made to 82.5m/m bore and use the standard 400cc l/c piston.

The reason for this is twofold:
    1. You can go from 82.5 all the way up to 88m/m in re-bores, and
    2. The barrel will be less likely to crack where the middle hole is where the reed block bolts on (a common failure point).

    Hope this helps!

Hey I just jumped from the start and to the end.. I'm going to enjoy going through everything in between now.. Thankyou for posting!!! I love this stuff!!!

Here I am at the 1982 Mauna kea 200 . I'm in the middle with the black helmet and the black and yellow fox chest protector.. or should I say about 50 lbs ago!!! This was my original 430xc that has actually got me to get my 430 that I have now. I'm going to enjoy reading this thread now and hopefully get some good ideas to set up my current 430. I appreciate you sharing!! Thanks!!! :applause:

I really like that front disc brake.. and the black stock tank you put on is exactly what I like. It's beautiful. I'm going to investigate some kind of rear disc brake setup in the future . The downpipe reminds me of my Bultaco I had.. It should be excellent for the sand. I got an old white tank like this to use until I redo the stock tank .. I never saw a black plastic one before.. I did see a yellow though. Hey that skid plate looks great too!!! Thanks! I'll need that where I'll be riding my husky.

My next add on is a Thunder Products Intelajet system from:
    www.thunderproducts.com
Here are some pictures of how it is mounted on my carb.
simply drill and tap a 10-32 hole and position it in centerline of carb bore.

Who needs fuel injection when you can have a Thunder Products adjustable carb set up!

This is one of the best things that i have put on my no holds barred resto-mod project.

This thing is amazing and the performance gain for bang for the buck is mind blowing.

I thought that most of the gains would be at top end as this is like having a secound stage to your main jet.

The biggest benefit was felt in the low to mid as you are dropping your main jet 3-4 sizes (more the smaller your bore size is)and the top end is amazing as the 1/2 to full throttle is supplied with atomized fuel and air boost that will make your bike rev to the moon!

My Dyno was Pismo beach sand dunes, the only place you can ride a raging 430 CR like a 125 pro Moto guy.
