Considering that Vintage MX Tracks are designed for Vintage Bikes that are older and have less suspension than this bike it might be an advantage to use the lower WR suspension over the taller CR XC. In other words if You think You can corner better with a shorter bike than a taller one you might want to just leave it alone. As mentioned above the rear end is fairly easy to switch but the front needs completely new Forks. On the good side is a Pair of Forks doesn't sell for all that much. If You look at pictures of the forks just judge the distance from the Axel to the bottom, a WR is easy to see how much shorter the legs are. Don't use the picture of my bike however it got 99 KTM legs.

wr will be fine as you can see.

Old " cant ride out of sight on a dark nite" here suggests that Kartwheel studies the guy that passed him in white and check his lines...nice wide sweeping lines equals more corner speed. unless you've got a comparable guy on your tail, make like a gp car and use all the track.

you were as fast as that mob I rekon but your passion for the inside line saw you lose speed and get held up by the guy in front every time... next time your out, think of sheep...and don't be one.

great vid, loved every second of it..was cheering you on in some parts and cursing in others. I was exhausted at the end from holding my breath!

got any more clips ??? promise I wont say anything else:naughty:

Great vid! Makes me want to practice my starts... The overjump, flatland, and get pitched over the bars thing I already have down! I am also good at leaving the door open on the inside and inviting someone to take my front wheel out in corners.

Have not taken apart Ohlins shocks before...how does that spacer come out?

What about any other mods? I am pretty sure that I won't be doing any enduros, so would removing the lights, swapping out the silencer, etc... be worth the effort?

I wouldn't remove the headline or install quick disconnects we did do midnight rides in the forest at night. When at my camp in the mountains. It's a family tradition I started. Midnight rides with headlines are a hoot. Just don't wheelie for too long.

I think tricking or tweaking out the bike is well worth it. Your making the bike perform better. Plus its the fun when you ride it because you built it.

I would replace the light with a numberplate, get an alloy muffler but pack it well. in Australia we had straight thru mufflers from husky, no spark arrestor and they gave good mid range hit just where you want to have the most hit so maybe modify your muffler to be a straight core?.

I would maybe ride a race to get the hang of it before you rush out spending $$ on the bike. it may be quite happy doing what you want to do. it will also focus your energy onto the main problems you discover while riding.

Allright to spend money on shox and motors but if the brakes are useless, the jetting wrong and the tyres pooh ...you've wasted your time and $$...

I don't mind coming last as im always learning something.....and having fun.

once you've had a run and sat back and thought about the bike, start talking to some suspension guru's like WER and see how they can help.

    enjoy.

LOL, no problem. Its hard to tell from the video but that track is one line and the turns dont lend themselves to outside lines.

This is the second moto on the 430WR.

At 5'7" and 145lbs I consider myself as a 100/125 specialist, but I go pretty good on a 250 or open bike too.:)

Well, you guys were spot on! My new '82 250 WR was plenty fast on the mx track tonight! We have a great vintage track here in Nebraska (Lincoln) and I was really surprised at how strong it ran…and seemed to have plenty of top end. Granted, I'm no Heikki Mikkola, but it was fast enough for me! Great handling bike, too. I put a CR rear fender on it and it really cleaned it up nicely. Races this Sunday…really stoked to get out there again. Thanks for all of the advice!
