This championship might be decided by who finishes the most in the top ~5 throughout the entire yr without winning very many main events... -- I gotta say that when CR22 put that very clean pass on Stew for the lead, I fell out of my chair and rolled out the front door and half-way down the block... It was like, Stew!!, Do you know who that was? Why did you not go crash trying to pass him back?
When CR22 passed KR94 and started chasing Stew ... It was like the world turned over or something ... Where were the other ~8 young top riders? ... Then he runs down and lays Stew in the shade with a 100% clean pass and Stew did not even flinch or even take notice... It was an out-of-this-world moment. -- You gotta give it to these 2 guys ... they are attempting to raise the bar on SX racing ... Reed won an SX title in 2003 and his second, 5 yrs later in 2008. He's really already raised the bar on a top racing career as long as he's been at it ... Stew is doing the same but a different path ... Both xChampions looked ready ...
Not sure what happened to JB51 ... He never really got much air time that I can remember... AS29 hanging in the top 10 as always ..
They were acting like old friends on the podium. As far as the rivalry, I think they're both just happy to be there at this point
The main was epic! All drama every lap! It's almost like the stars were in total allignment! Dungey goes down, RV2 goes down, K-Roc bullying RV2 for much of the night and Brayton showing he's a force. Reed did was he's still totally capable of doing and that is win. It was good to see everybody's working class hero, Weston Peick, finish 7th. Great showing for the Privateer/former High School Football Player out of Wildomar, CA.
Just rewatched the main. Bam-Bam was never on screen but I watched the ticker show him in about 7th for most of the race then ended up 10th? Peick and Weimer and Short? got by - must have had an 'incident'. So far it looks like Honda doesn't have anyone who's competitive - wonder if Tomac will do any better? Impressed by Braytons ride - he got a so-so start and worked his way up with a Dungey-like performance to 4th. Impressed to see Dungey and Weimer throwing some hard passes. Impressed that Stewart was able to stick his boot in RV's front wheel causing RV to go down - and James kept it going. Maybe these guys will start putting spikes on the sides of their boots
Braytons Yamaha has looked good through the whoops every race. They seem to have that bike well dialed. I liked the Yellow.
Made it really easy to spot him out on the track ... -- And yep, more than one bike blasting across those whoops ... Those were just about the right size as they were causing issues for the riders but not bad enough to ruin the racing by taking out too many guys ... That paint says Kenny Roberts to me ... -- At least they finally cut the size downward on that fata$$ bar that runs N/NE on the side of the bike ... That dual bracket on the subframe somehow looks like ladies garter strap stuff ...
Little weird on Barcia ... Maybe something with the bike? Don't count him out over 1 race ... Eli has alot of catching up to do ... He's not shown very much on the 450s to date ... Canard? He won SX races as a rookie ... These guys are all in the mix some where ... -- Looked like RV2 slid about 6" too far into Stew ... Stew probably moved his leg to protect it. The few times people have crowded me like that, my pinched leg was felt very vulnerable. Looked more like Stews' peg yanked RVs bike around as RV2 was trying to get outta the way...Stew was probably lucky to keep his leg attached ... You gotta remember Stew has had the best RC4, CR22, have had to give ... Even if he is a little older and his speed is ~down some from those days, he a 100% pure racer and this stuff is right up his alley. Maybe not points racing, but rubbing and dirt samples are not gonna bother him much. \-- There is gonna be more bar banging as the yr progresses, just due to too many top riders with speed ... Did you notice the 4 bike break-away from the pack in the opening laps? That can easily be 6 or more bikes moving towards the front next race...
