    Tim,

It's not a competition. I was merely making a point that in our tight and technical woods the smaller displacement bikes have quite an advantage- all other things being equal, such as riding ability.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming, LOL.

Installed some radiator guards today.... 088.JPG

Also changed the break in oil, filter, and cleaned the screen. The oil was pretty black, although I half expected that as I am a clutch monger. I was going to tear the bike down further to grease the linkage, swingarm pivot, and steering head, but I think I will wait until my fork parts get here so I can revalve at the same time. I had an old set of the original Easton Pro Tapers around- Doug Henry bend, that were like new so I installed them as I don't like the stock bend. The DH bars are about the same height with just a touch more pullback. They feel good.

Oh I hear ya. But just can't get along with four strokes and for sure 27hp ones. That weigh around 250. I like the brap brap of a two stroke I have nothing against and ajp and contemplated on buying one to bash around on but my current spare bike a 2013,wr250r Yamaha with full FMF exhaust programmer etc.. .just plain sucks unless you ride it realizing what it is. A 31hp tied heavier then a gas gas....but does have a license plate.....its getting sold....not sure the ajp will catch on in the states or not but certainly I would like to do a 25 mile loop on one....

At my size the 501 is easier to ride in the woods for me. My 310 was a train wreck in the tight stuff and couldn't loft the front end when needed. I added a rekluse which helped a bit. The 501 just does everything better IMO. I can't ever see myself going back to a small bore 4T again due to my size but would like to try a modern 250 or 300 2T. Being 6'4" and 225 lbs ain't always roses. It limits many things in life but it's sure nice to be able to dab a leg from time to time.
Glad the PO is happy with the new bike and it works good for you. Being under 200 lbs would change things for me I'm sure.

My question has been answered today.... I got to ride a '14 FC250. It had way more bottom end, than I thought a MX 250F should, felt slim and handled well. I realized that I'm really a 2T guy though! I've had the same feeling going from my '09 WR125, to a '10 TXC250. The engine braking and extra rotational mass, are too much for me. I'm sure I could learn to ride it and love it over time, but 2T's just fit me better.

Me too reveille, as long as it isn't mine. So I can beat it a little, as in try it.

They just seem like a lot more work though.

I don't mean maintenance of course.

I mean the clutch and gear shifting part.

I like the 501 as it can be ridden a bit lazy and is still as nimble and easy to toss around as the smaller bikes.

I am with you. I am a dyed in the wool 2 stroke guy and go much faster with less effort on a 2T. In fact I pretty much hate all 4 strokes- the new stuff is getting better however. The only reason I bought this is so I can have something that will putt around with my kids, and still get up and go when I want it too. Joining it soon will be the new Husky 200 2T with linkage, wink, wink!

On another note: I can't believe the superb fit and finish on this bike- it just blows me away. The last KTM I had was an '09 200 and it wasn't even close to the quality of this bike.

BTW- my seat base says Husaberg on it.....

"What brand radiator guards are those hoov?"

They are the Husky Power ones. Fitment was perfect, and they don't even move the shrouds out a mm!

Hey I have a new, Husaberg catalog black/gray gripper seat as a spare for mine. It fits perfectly. But I have 3 others too.

Different strokes for different folks! After having my FC250, I'd only ride a 2 stroke if I was injured and it was the only bike available to get me to the truck.. :)

Now go try a KXF250, has twice the bottom and feels like 450 in comparison.

If anyone notices a pattern of certain members finding what you type either annoying or out of context - simply ignore it and try to avoid interacting with those members, no need to make a comment which they will probably take out of context - no matter how innocent the comment might be.
