Would be interesting to hear what you think compared to the WR300.

Would have been keen but was out at Beerburrum. So busy in there, 4x4 everywhere and plenty of head-on potential with many bikes. Someone got choppered out as we were gearing up.

No, the standard guards aren't wrap-around. I bolted on EGO Barkbusters, same as on my Husky.

Yeah, I only do Beerburrum on week days. Too many close calls.

That said, I managed to step off mine & break a rib :)

Cheers. It's not too bad, but might keep me off the bike for a little while.

Thanks. I've met Luke and he's a good dude. I would have bought my bike from him but common sense says dealer closer to home/work was more sensible. I'll check out the sale. Cheers

Ride report: I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Sherco SE-R 300 is a pure fun machine.

I put 2.5 hours and 72kms on it first weekend. Two short rides with some slow going and some "WOT better back off bike not broken in" stuff.
This bike has a wider focus than my 310. It can do the fire trail cruising between "trails" and the slow tech riding. It's very agile and stable like the 310.
The map switch is great. I am no gun rider and can't keep a 300 2T on the boil through all terrain so was switching to the mild map when needed.
Flicked it over to wild when my brother set me up for a drag race with his 13' KX450f. Firstly, wow... those KX's have one hell of an engine. They're really fast, but I was surprised that the Kwaka didn't pull away from the Sherco too quickly.

Another thing that surprised me was how I could crawl up hills. I hit a familar short, steep hill that is hard pack clay covered in loose powder and the 300 just tractored up. I know that my 310 likes to break traction on this hill and usually have to hit it with some speed and clutch finesse. Not so on the Sherco.
I stopped at the bottom, sipped my camelbak and experimented. Hit the estart and the Sherco fired up instantly, in one gear too high and mild map I just pulled the throttle... no wheel spin just traction and up I went!
I should mention that I'm about 115kgs with gear so no lightweight. Also, the stock rear tyre sucks on loose over hard pack (Michelin Enduro Comp 3 140/18).

    Another few random points are:
    • Rigid feeling chassis. Almost like an aluminium frame Jap MXer.
    • Adding to the rigid feeling is the solid mounted handlebar clamps. No rubber in there. This bike probably would benefit from PHDS or flexx bar system.
    • I moved the handle bars to the most forward position and added Fastways in low position. Just personal preference.
    • The bike handled the rough stuff well but I haven't even looked at a clicker yet. Will run it in then tune the suspension. It can only get better but its making me smile already.
    • Damping seems more MX like.
    • Sherco build quality is second to none. The finer detail is appreciated.
    • My 310 is not replaced, just diverted. I still love that machine too.
    • Any questions, just ask
    :D

Excellent write up; thanks. I sure hope Clay and Sherco get the pricing thing worked out for the USA as I can't find a bike brand I want more. Enjoy .

Damn this really throws a spanner in the works for me now!

Was already tossing up between a Husky 501 or a 300t and then it was Husky or KTM 300t now it's Husky/KTM/Sherco 300t!

    I want them all

    Sooooooo, I called into Northstar M/C! :)

My name is on their list to have a crack at the new 450 & the rest of the range when it lobs later in the year.
I am really keen hey

    Nice one!

Sept. ADB has some info on the 2015's. Apparently Sherco built the 450 just for you!
They say its aimed at the Australian market (as Europe 450 market is not so big).

    More 450..
    • synerject efi
    • tailored engine braking with stepper motor that regulates a valve to bypass air into the motor
    • same frame as the other bikes
    • smooth linear power
    • could be a future 350 based on the 450

The self regulating idle/engine braking is the thing that worries me most given the can of worms Husky delivered!
Hopefully they have done a proper job with the setup & it turns out awesome :)
