Heading out to the infamous Starvation Ridge 25hr race. Starts 9 Sat and ends 9 Sun. Good times. Got the WR125 setup for the day and the WXC250 setup for the night with a trailtech X2 headlight and MR16 helmet lights. Got grip heaters and elephant ears installed. This si going to be fun. I'm riding sweep this year as i did it last year and had a blast as you get to ride WAY more than when you race. Fun to help people out and watch people out on the course dice it up. Should be great conditions this year. track from the air. About 13 miles I think. here is our very own ShotgunScott before he was on a husky about to take a very wet soil sample...
For the 25 hour they add about 10 miles of grass track! Can't wait, this is my first year racing it. Later,
I really would like to make it to that race someday. Looks like lots of fun. Hey Fitness, if you are serious about putting together that husky ride sometime next fall you should consider having it there at the starvation 24 hour race. It could be a Husky take over!!
what an awesome weekend. Perfect conditions, great friends, great racing. there was one huge bummer in that a guy got killed, crashed and crushed his chest. Very sad for all. Shotgunscott and crew (with 2 huskys on the team) got an unofficial 1st place. Some real fast guys in that crew. as usual it was fast and rough. Choppy and gets a lot worse over the 25 hours to the point of brutal. this year there was a lot of fresh new grass track. The whole thing was 25 miles a loop. Fast teams were running 50-57 minutes a lap. Most were more like 58-65 a lap. all my pix are here - http://motosportz.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/10-30-09-25hr-race/10181599_AG753#700966197_FGGyw Jakes are here - http://jmetteer.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/2009-OFFROAD-RIDES/09-10-31-25-HOUR/10180596_TcVS8#P-1-15 Scott on his way to a win random track pix... they run you through a house and a barn. Good fun. The gratuitous WR125 pic not the right tool for the job but fun all the same. 450 4 strokes rule here. Good times
great stuff Kelly. A few more of mine... The iron Woman! THE IRON MAN! The Man! I am glad you stopped for a fellow rider down even if it cost you the race. Thanks for feeding us Scott and Valerie, for that I present you with... a picture.:smirk: I had some fun on my first lap out.:ride: I was glad to have the sweep riders out there and tried to thank them when I went by. Later,
Congrats you guy!!! If you people would stop spinning your rear tires the track would have been smoother Who is this? and what is happening with this guys bike? This one certainly deserves to be made into a motivational poster
First one is Shotgunscott and his daughter being goofy, next is my WXC250 which ran perfect for 2.5 miles before spinning the flywheel weight (I think) and going out of time. Last one is one of Jakes friends, all of Jakes friends look like that after some time.
So Jakes friends get a good laugh! Or constipated? Looks like you fine people have a good time up there
Boy, that stuff looks just perfect. I'm going bonkers down here in the dust waiting for some rain, mud and water puddles. Some of these guys ride write ups talk about a few inches of rain on a particular day. Sometimes we don't even get a few inches of rain in an annual season.
Yeah but unfortunately all the good ride areas will look like this in a few weeks (but with 3 more feet on top that) and we ether drive to far to ride (3 hours) or we go skiing.
That in the picture looks just fine. I've ridden in enough snow to know that by the time you reach about ten inches of packed snow, it isn't any fun anymore, the front wheel looks like a big powdered sugar donut and quits turning (at least with regular hard terrain tires).
To the left in that picture is a 100+ foot drop. Snow is not a welcome sight in that riding area... Later,
7th in class i believe. Top woman. Did more laps than some teams and covered 300 miles. She is a trooper for sure.
Yep 7th in class with 12 laps and 300 miles, 89th overall. I have been riding with Margie for the last 5 years or so, she has no quit in her. We would always take her places that some of the guys would complain about. here are a couple video's of her in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEYr-fUw3RI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py8M6tlUWGc Later,
Two things about the vids, One, Margie is a WAY better rider now and those sections would not even phase her, two, anything labeled Woodland trails or Castle rock by Jake it slick snot on ice. Go Margie.
For sure, those were showing her never give up attitude. And they are much harder than they look. Later,
