It's funny to me that there are gobs of 2 stroke oil threads but not much attention is paid to the fuel you are pouring the oil in. Carbon on the power valves, piston damage, ring damage, damage to carburetor hard parts such as corroded jets and dried up hard cracked "O" rings have a lot to do with fuel and are often blamed on the mix oil. Good race fuel does not go stale after 3-4 weeks like most pump gas and also does not dry up and harden "O" rings or float needles. (No additives like Sta-bil needed). I've been running 2/3 Dominator with 1/3 Interceptor mixed 40:1 in VP110 in every 2 stroke I own including leaf blowers, weed whackers and chain saws. I've never poured out stale fuel and everything I own starts 1st or 2nd pull or kick no matter how long it sits. Not once have I had to replace a priming bulb on a weed whacker because cheap fuel dried up and cracked the bulb. Not having to jack with things that don't start or run right gives more time to ride which is well worth the extra dollars spent on fuel. I ride a lot (3 times a week or more) on my endurocross/single-track practice area in my 15 acre back yard. I have had to replace the spark plug once per year for the last 3 years in my WR250 because it gets fouled from what appears to be lead that coats the spark plug. (the only drawback I can think of for VP110 besides the cost)

I'm not trying to derail this thread but only trying to point out that while most any modern synthetic oil will do a great job the same cannot be said for the fuel.

Www.pure-gas.org gets you ethanol free fuel locally. For my purposes works every bit as good as AV gas or VP fuels etc. Much cheaper and more availability in my locality.

...thought 927 was a castor oil (not synthetic)?

I use that app all the time and it's great. Unfortunately the 93 no ethanol station closest to me is a 45 mile round trip so it takes 3 gallons of fuel in my truck and an hour for me to get fuel as opposed to 1 mile for VP110. Also the shelf life on pump fuel is not very long but for some that's a non issue. My 09 wr250 has 205 lbs of cranking compression and 91 detonates. I think your wr 300 has less cranking compression (170 ish) unless you go with the race head mod.

I have 87 nearby and 92 further away. WR300 runs fine with the 87 since it's a low compression motor. I leave the 87 in my chainsaw and weedeater over-winter and they fire up easily in the spring (no sta-bil, seafoam, or other additives used). I think it's the ethanol in "pump" gas that causes the issues rather than ethanol free fuel available from a pump. Lawn mower is same - first pull in the spring and it's a four stroke running on 32:1. :D Have heard that two cycle oil actually makes any fuel last longer.

Two-stroke oil does seem to act as an excellent stabilizer and fuel system conditioner. I always put my CBR F2 and F3 nightnight for the season with a final full tank of ethanol-free 93 with some 2-stroke oil in it. No carb issues, no tank corrosion. Of course my RD400 already has premix in the tank!

The Bear Creek gas station mini mart near Belfair on the old Belfair highway has been selling ethanol free 92 for awhile now. That's where i get it. If you're riding at Tahuya and passing through Belfair then it's very close. A bit out of the way if riding green or gold mountain.
