Installed the 7602 rad brace, which is indeed a bit of a pain in the ass to install. Removing the air-filter helps make a bit of room. If I had to do it over, I would drain the anti-freeze first, as it does spill and gets everywhere. The braces fit well and seem very good quality; I think they will work well. Nicely anodized red, too. I didn’t get the optional guards as I’m not racing it. So much antifreeze was spilled that I drained it all and put in new Engine Ice. Old antifreeze looked muddy. My experience was the same as above: the fan fits on existing bolts and quite a bit of plastic needs trimmed to make the shrouds fit. I used a box knife with a new blade & took my time. No problems.
The radiator braces look good, I am in the market for my txc 511. I have put the guards on in the past and I had problems with air flow in the tight single track. Do you recommend the guards and the braces or just the braces.
I can think of a couple reasons to put on the guards: If you follow closely behind other bikes on gravel or rocky trails (racing) such that you take rocks to the rad. If you blast hard through tight trails where a stick could spear your rad. Soft reason: the red guards look better than the stock plastic deflectors...
Since our design doesn't rely on the front guard for structural support we are able to open them up for better airflow. The front guards are just roost and trail spear protection. The braces are what provide the support for the rads. I have yet to boil over a husky with our front guards installed. WR 300, TC 450, TE 450, TXC 250, and TE 449. Lots of various terrain from wide open, to very tight trail races that require a lot of clutching.
These look nice. Before I place an order, is there any other brace worth considering? I want a smooth installation and great functionality.
I just purchased one that I will install this weekend. I did not see any other products worth considering. This appears well made, quality is very good. After seeing pics of bent radiators and units speared with sticks I decided this was a must have given Husky parts are not easily obtained. My local dealers order everything and have nothing in stock. So far Hal's is the only place I have found to get OEM parts.
I typically like the way the anodized finish looks on a bike, but it just looks weird next to that fire truck red painted head. Does anyone else see it this way? Maybe in person in looks better, but to me it looks like the two different reds just don't match very well.
I went with the aluminum finish. Did all my first maintenance and a few mods yesterday. Tomorrow more mods including the radiator brace. Based on the comments I will drain the radiator and use another CH supporter's (Zip something ......) radiator fluid.
Hey guys those braces shipped like overnight! Thanks for your awesome service. I installed them in time for my baja trip. They look great and are super sturdy too! Keep up the good work and thanks for supporting the Husky community.
I'm more than happy to support 7602! My next purchase may be the engine covers. You guys need to make affordable shift levers, pegs, and foot brake levers. $72 OEM for a shifter. I haven't been able to find cheap aftermarket replacements.
