Was the GV setup using Terry Hay's shim setting or other?

Second attempt at gold valve open chamber. Still way to loose and unpredictable.

contact terry and get his settings to convert them back to CC. You will be very happy then.
OC isn't the way to go with these forks

He is contemplating that but might have a local tuner have a pass at them.

So after a long chat with FC today come to find out the forks were just stock no valving changes ever made on them so Airgroup or someone just put the sticker on them.....

Makes me mad in one way but in another I cant believe how BAD they were stock.... makes me feel good FC hadnt actually revalved them before

Well, round one failed- as in the settings just did not work for me in the areas where I ride. Round two, RT had me stiffen the base while leaving the mid valve alone. I also went from .44kg springs to .46kg springs. Fork worked well as far as absorbing rootwads, etc. Fork did not work well in that it uses too much stroke for a given obstacle. Worked with settings front and rear for the duration of a 50 mile ride in some nasty single track. Lots of roots, a few rocks. Ledges, step ups and downs, logs, etc. 5000-6000 MSL in the southern Washington Cascades. The fork just moves too much for my taste, and upsets the whole chassis, hurting precision and control. Moderately quick pace. I was contemplating adding a little oil to the fork but the level is already at 80mm. Maybe 1.3mm bleed and .6mm float at the MV is hurting the progression? Maybe I need to work a little more with the base valve? I like my forks to ramp up a little quicker. I have to say the bike, taken as a whole, worked best so far in its stock configuration. It felt less KTM like, so to speak. It would seem I have a ways to go with the OC setup...

Next out, I have a set of forks from a local tuner that have a modded version of Wilkey's asymmetrical setup, but the stock configuration is used with both needles in place. Very curious to see how they work... After that, I will be trying Terry's setup with the stock base and MV. And so the adventure continues......

I believe it is possible to get this fork right for very little money, I just haven't found the right combo yet. They are easy to work on so I am having a little fun with it.

$600 doesn't guarantee the fork will work for you.... A lot of different tuning theories and a lot of different results.

If 600 fixes and makes it work even half as good as my 1988 Husky 430 WP upside down forks I'll be happy....

Well if it don't work I'll be on the lookout

Why don't you get in touch with Dean Burke in Crestwood, KY? He does a lot of KTM work. Says he has a setup with MXTech (Wilkey). He does a lot of Ohlins work, too.

If this doesnt work I will Rick.... My impression is he only wanted to mess with Ohlins

Got my forks back from Factory Connection on Friday.....

Slipped them on and went for a ride today....

A Million times better..... Total difference....

The bike felt like a total different bike and no more crazy deflections....

Choppy, rooty, rocky it didnt matter it floated like butter... Trails I was in mid 2nd gear I was in the top of 3rd.... whole different bike....

It was a $500 bill and used my springs but worth every penny

    FYI,
and I know we are a knowledgeable bunch here. Don't forget to get your rear set up dialed to perfection, I noticed that it has a lot of effect on the front with these bikes (this bike my TE300). Also I found that once the rear is set up only 1 ring projected on the front at most is needed and the front just lightens up and flows. (hard to explain)
