Sorry, been away from the computer for a while. Yes, you cut the stock exhaust just in front of the O2 sensor hole. So you no longer have the O2 hole with the plug in it. The Fmf pipe from a 2008 RMZ450 is just a hair smaller diameter where in meets up to the stock pipe you cut. then the FMF pipe get fatter as it enters the actuall muffler (lots of flow!!). i bought an 1 7/8 peice of exhaust for $8 at canadian tire. i found i needed to make a 4inch connecting piece from stock pipe to FMF pipe. i needed to put about a 15degree bend in this connecting pipe to bring the FMF pipe up about 3inches at the back so it would perfectly bolt into the mounting hole on subframe. i bent the connecting pipe by putting a small ripple (or crease) in the pipe with ocy/acetelean torch. you just make a red hot line across the pipe and pull on it and it ripples over. you could probably leave the connecting pipe straight, but you will need to reef up on the fmf muffler to get the bolt in. i didn't like that. takes a few hours of jacking around if you have everything. you use 2 stock exhaust clamps from stock set-up and u slot the edges of the connecting pipe so it will clamp down and bite the stock and fmf pipe. use red-high temp silicon on the fmf side cause its a touch loose, but tightens up just fine.

the fmf muffler rides close to rear tire and i noticed that you can really only run a 120 or maybe 130 wide tire. fine with me...i have a couple 120/100-18 tires to burn off. i think a dunlope 606 (130 wide) will fit. but i need to measure my buddies 630 with his dunlope 606.

$460 got me a single FMF powercore pipe and JD power surge tuner. rode all day yesterday. big friggin' rips!!! i did ride the bike with just the fmf pipe and no JD power surge...and i did notice a difference...the bike pulled harder for sure. I'm stoked!! set-up is good enough for me. its light. it flows great. my buddy has the dual Leo Vince slip ons and the JD power surge tuner on his 630, and my bike with FMF pulls just a bit harder. little more grunt.

summary.... i love it. if you need your bike to looked perfect with nothing b0-jacked this is not for. this not bill's set-up. this is my own and bill's may be better or different? thisis louder that stock, but not annoying. there is also an fmf Q4 (quite series pipe) but it is $50 more. i like quite bikes and i would never ride a supercross 4stroke with a modified pipe...this set-up is not that loud. the second half of your stock heat shield (the long piece) doesn''t really fit proper, but you can make something, bend the stock heat shield or by a straigh generic heat shield like Bill supplies.

in regards to pictures...i dont have have much. i was too busy trying to get it done and my wife and kids kept asking me why i was in the garage so much! the picture in the 1st post shows all stock heat shield. i actually changed that. had to bend it a bit.

With that little clearance, I guess the SM guys are out of luck since we have a 150 tire as standard and many are riding on a 160. Otherwise a great option! Thanks for the info!

You could play with the connecting pipe and put a different angle on it - that may help a touch. Also, there are several FMF models that fit an '08 RMZ450 and some of those mufflers might be more compact. The set-up that Bill sells is a "FMF Speed" pipe. I wonder what kind of tire clearence his set-up has.
But, with my home brew set-up its a 120 or maybe 130 wide.

I ran Bill's FMF setup on my SMS630 and there was no issue with clearance.

They have >30,000 feedback with 99.7% positive rating. Doesn't get much better than that. I ordered the first pipe they listed. I also bought a quiet insert from them for $29 at the same time. They shipped insert same day and I received the UPS tracking number for pipe the following day. I wasn't planning to buy a pipe until next year but couldn't pass up this deal.

Granted, this was from 2008, but would still give me pause on a deal that seems to be to good to be true. I'm glad it worked out for you, wish I could have grabbed one!

i was told there in NO FMF pipe that fits a 630? Thats the whole point of Bill's set up that is actually from a RMZ450 with a little joining piece? Is this FMF pipe new for the 630? this is what everyone would buy if they knew about it!! you must have to cut, hack and paste the stock mid pipe? no?

no- the new FMF fits perfect.. bolts right on and includes a mid-pipe and heat shield.

BTW,, the decal comes off easier when new also.

Ditto and my tracking number is already moving thru UPS's system so now is safe to talk about this. Clearly seller priced wrong, read their ad again and you'll find their mistake. $30 off with free shipping turned out to be $330 off!!! Don't expect them to relist again, probably found out their mistake already. Looks like four of us that quickly pulled the trigger got lucky. I ordered the quiet insert from them also so total cost of $296 shipped to my door. The money I saved will pay for my JD Tuner and EHS prefilter to complete the setup.

FMF has been making a muffler that comes with a mid-pipe and heat shield for a while. Listed on FMF's site fo around $600. Apparently a ebay store listed 10 of them awhile back fo around $330 each. This latest listing is a different ebay seller, and is the first one to offer the pipe at a discounted price for awhile.
So yeah, it is a great option at $300, but at full list price you might as well get a Leo Vince. Thats why everyone doesnt have them. Gotta wait and find the sweet ebay deal.

Yep insane price I agree. Seismic Cycles is a stand up dealer for honoring their mistake even though they lost a couple hundred dollars on the sale. Unlike the previous Ebay seller who caught their mistake before shipping and cancelled all orders and refunded money.

Pipe is already de-stickered, quiet insert in and ready for install. Adjusting valves next week so will do it at same time.
