Where do the front straps go? Loop under the frame? A tankbag is on my shortlist. Nothing I have in the spare tankbag bin fits.
Around the frame in front, right behind your triple clamps. When I get home I can snap some up close mounting shots. It is perfect where I have it now because I can get the seat off without removing the bag.
If you could get a shot from the top looking down that would be really helpful too. I need to make sure my beer abused midsection will clear the bag. THANKS
A loud second on the Giant Loop Fandango tank bag. looks like it was made for the bike. I will ride my TR up to Byrds sometime this weekend and you can see it on the bike. btw. anyone else heading to the SLAP rally ?
Ok Krussell, try to overlook how dirty the bike is from my last trip. I had Mrs. Fab take a side view so you could have a good idea of how much room is there.
Yes to SLAP. Hope the rain doesn't fill in too heavy. Bringing the Terra on a trailer and my pickup camper if the ground will dry enough for me to get to it.
Thanks to you and Mrs. Fab. This helps a bunch. I really appreciate the extra effort to get the side view.
I have the small Wolfman Enduro tankbag. Big enough for a hat and a camera and a can of drink and a bag of lollies. I only need to undo one clip at the front to move it back far enough to expose the fuel cap for refills and the seat can be fitted and removed without removing the tankbag.
I gotta say I like undoing clips better than unzipping to get to the cap. My Buell is like that. The zip seems nice, but in reality it's kind of a pain. I still really like the Fandango, but I would like it better if it clipped off.
I am sure there is some variation in zippers, but my experience is that when they get dirty, or even very dusty, zippers become very difficult to operate. That's why I carry a small bottle of silicone spray on my trips for taking care of jacket zippers, tank bag lid, carry-all lid etc. Clips for tank bags are the way to go!
Bar of soap works great as well. Rub it on the teeth and leave it dry (do not wash off), it lubes and cleans the zipper. Old Jeep trick.
After spending quite a bit of time adjusting the windscreen for a quiet and buffet free ride, I added a Wolfman Timberwolf tank bag. Not only did I get a lot of storage space, I got the noise and buffeting back. Seems like the air flow over the tank was a factor in the 'smooth' ride. I tried a Wolfman Enduro tank bag and mounted it far enough back to allow gas cap access. Ahhhhh, welcome back quiet and buffet free. I am using the Timberwolf as a tail bag mounted to a piece of 3/8" King starboard. (Krussell......thanks for the tip on TAP Plastics. I'd never heard of starboard. Great stuff.) I had mounted a Rotopax to the rear rack but after seeing the picture of the rotopax and half a rack laying in the road, decided to move it to the pannier rack. With the Wolfman Monarch Pass saddle bags and Rotopax I don't think I'll be doing any lane splitting the next time I'm down in California. In fact, some states may even require a WIDE LOAD sign.
To bad we didn't know someone with a wind tunnel to try out a bunch of combinations for a quiet ride. Wind screen, barkbusters, tank bags, helmets etc.
Dangslow, I think Wolfman ought to be paying you some advertising royalties. That TR makes those Wolfman bags look GOOOOOOOD!
