Good point. I always intend to deal positively with people, so know that I had no aggressive tactics in mind. I just like to have an idea of how much margin the dealer has so we can all walk away happy. Based on the lack of responses to my post, I suspect most TR buyers either aren't bargaining too hard, just want to keep it private, or want to ensure that their Husky dealer is still there next year. I want that too, but frankly, the dealer in my neck of the woods is also a dealer for 3 other brands and keeps updating the showroom...
Hey all, first post. I picked up a new TR650 Terra this Saturday and took it out for a quick shakedown ride yesterday. Great bike so far.
Got mine Jan 2013 from Charles Hurst Motorad N,Irleland, no problems as yet, Touratech sump guard, and boosterplug which helped idle and overall running. Great bike i love it so far. Steve
Hey, I'm sorry I missed this until now. They were great to deal with, it did come with a tool kit and manual, and the USB, and it had not been demo'd, I got it with 1 mile on the ODO.
thanks bark! still debating the terra but i think its the best middle ground bike that can get me to the trails via highway.
So far its been the perfect compromise for the sort of riding I want to do, its great at any speed I've wanted to go on the highway, commutes well between Boulder and Fort Collins, and breezes up to the 5 points area on the Lefthand Canyon trail no problem. I haven't been off-road in about 10 years, but I've been having a blast with easy stuff like that.
Put a deposit down today. Bike will be ready to go when I get back from holidays. Just in time for the Easter break.
I haven't seen this question really addressed yet. I plan on getting a Terra in the next couple of weeks and I'd like an idea of what to offer the dealer. Is everyone paying pretty much MSRP? Are you getting any "extras" thrown in on the deal? I'm in central Illinois. Thanks.
Basically there is not a lot of margin in the bike, so 300-500 off (and the 500 number is off this forum, not stated as achieved by anyone) is about the best you can do. I know my local dealer rapidly sold out his first five, has a bunch more on order; I doubt with Spring arriving soon that those new ones will go much below list. If you live in an area where the bike has been popular, doubt you will see much off. If in a slower area, might still see some off. The "KTM" sale seemed to have caused some to pause/reconsider, but seems to be faded as an issue and more folks are getting miles on the bike and reporting how good it really is. My concern would be that dealers might go above list if demand grows ... Paul
Thanks for the warm welcome. It's good to find a forum with a group of knowledgeable folks. I'm a long time KLR owner and was hoping Kawasaki would come out with an upgrade like this but I guess I can't keep waiting. The Terra looks to be what I've been looking for. I'll have a lot of work to do on this bike to get it ready for my plans for this year. Here's a video of last year's travels. View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS2ljnErAjI It starts off slow but gets a lot better if you stay with it. Looking forward to a great experience here.
You never know what you're going to get when you click on somebodys video. Spiderman, yours was a real treat. All four times. I'll be whistling a different tune around the house for awhile I'm sure.
Owned 4 KLRs - kept going back to them: found them too underpowered for my substantial self; sold it; missed it's "ease of use", bought another, etc. As soon soon as the Terra came out I knew I wanted it as a bike that is what the KLR should have become! Not disappointed: today in a strong headwind(30mph), Terra just cruises along at 75, substantial self and all! Plenty of power in reserve! Really starting to love this bike!! Paul
That my friend was just awesome. Not only can you ride but you can edit Too!!! One of the best Videos I've seen in a long time. Thank You Not really a Johnny fan but I too have that stuck in my head now.
Yeah, sorry about sticking that song in your head guys. That video was a retirement project I had been planning on for a long time - finally got my chance when I pulled the plug last spring. It's my 1st video and will probably be my last. You can imagine how much time and money went into making it, but it was all worth it. I just hope they play it at my funeral! I think the Husky will probably do as well off pavement as the old KLR and it should also handle all the pavement I have planned too. I put 93k miles on my 1st KLR and so far only 26k on my current one. I really like the dual sport adventure stuff and it looks like another great riding year is shaping up. This bike should just make it all that much more fun!
