Hmmm not sure of that one.....I think Husky sold their soul to the devil when they went blue and yellow.....only a personal preference though. You going to Farleigh in sept ?

Another ouzo here on it's way...!

Have to agree to disagree about colours, would prefer the Swedish flag to something you might find in your grannies stocking collection !
Farleigh should be on the cards. Time to move on to the Metaxa yet? Better hurry back and split that motor, rumour has it summers here next week !

Sorry no. KTM and Husky starting Saturday and working Sunday. Have a good run out though, a nitrous shot to cool the CCM?
Lost a kilo off the KTM crank though and with right/left Swedish/Austrian kick combo should give me a good balanced workout !

I'm just adding two photos today, they don't need captions.
On a brighter note the KTM started well yesterday, then refused repeat the trick ever again. Today the Husky took about 1 (hundred) kicks then it kicked back, then ran for a good two seconds then also refused to fire again. I left it and came back later and it seemed down on compression??? Not sure though, its back in its cage now while I drink beer with a bag of frozen peas on my ankle.
    Any starting tips gratefully recieved.

I'd agree partly, they do flood easily. Usually on my 390,430 & 500 I turn the petcock on, choke lever engaged, rock the bike
back & forth in 3rd gear, count to around 45. Gas off & choke too, position kicker at the top of the stroke & kick it like
my life depended on it, with throttle closed, usually starts on 1st kick. Then on goes the gas again, this technic has been
work for the past 3-4 years for me at least. I also never start them unless i'm going to riding them, usually if i start them
the night before they never start on race day :banghead:

My 500 had me stumped when i first got it, it started some times then didnt others, tract it down to kill switch earthing out on the handle bars, guy i got it of did a quick and dodgey resto. Once i jetted her properly it starts 2nd kick, plenty of compression due to new piston and ring + re-bore,No quirky starting routine, just jump on and kick

Thanks for the advice, will drag it out and have another go one night. Just got the KTM going and its just a case of finding the right technique. I'd changed the flywheel for a tiny egg cup sized one so now it won't start on choke due to weak kick spark. Just needs one pump then no throttle. Just have to find what the Husky wants, great advice thanks.
If I wanted legs both the same size and a smaller adreneline gland I'd buy a Hayabusa.

success! the 400 will start with a kick sitting on the seat. can leave fuel on no stress. very japanese like. just did the harrow vinduro, bike ran like clockwork and hauled arse on the open sections. what a great ride, did 3 laps for a gold medal. the loops were 100 to 115 minutes each.bike needed a few bolts checked and my two bob muffler cap shot through and needed a refit. there should be some good pics floating about on the web.

May I ask what this is haha.
I'm a big KTM guy as well as Husky.

By the looks of it this is a late 90s to early 2000s chassis, possibly 4T engine but what happened to the seat and rear fender and what's up with the tank?

It has to be one of the strangest KTM supermoto things I've ever seen haha. It's not bad look just very very strange.

    Sweet.
Did you find it easy to ride ?
Hint about the bolts [ and now some knob will say that I'me wrong ]
I put silastic on every bolt and nut just like locktite but easier to get undone.
Have never had a nut fall off or a bolt come undone on any of my bikes.

fantastic, slipped back into the husky lounge chair after 23 years away like it was yesterday. brakes were an issue, caused some fast corners! the larger size compared to the ktm 300 took 1\2 a lap to stop thinking about it. the inbuilt gyro that keeps huskys upright was tested numerous times. cheers

If you extend [ if you havn't already ] the top brake arm you'll get better performance.
Take it till it's almost touching the brake stay.

2003 525 exc out to 540, knight flatracker seat, all the engine mods to keep 60+hp at the wheel from turning the motor inside out.
Been playing with that and igoring the Husky since it refused to start and then fell off the stand. I 'had the right hump' as they say.
Thanks to Larsa's pics I am ready to start on it again.
Got a weeks work before I can start proper but started the fork brace and investigated the motor. As you can see from the pics I was getting too much fuel. I need to adjust the kicker to get more revolutions and lay off the gas. I really want a stronger spark though. All the electrics check out ok but I might start a thread to investigate electronic options.
I hate the tyres too so going to pop them off and go for more of a supermoto tyre.
