Ive found an easy start method
prime twice get to start of pre compression stroke choke on and open trottle fully just like starting an old chainsaw
works first kick every time

the motoplats have the cdi built into the upper unit...it is not a just a "coil" like a femsa. the lead also does not unscrew from the motoplat! some have been ruined that way, lol..glad you got it started rethreading the cap on tho...thats usually a good tune up tip

Mine works fine but lead is gone hard and brittle so had to shorten it back and relocate it temp so i can ride it and test the engine before i strip it

Ye that motor is in good shape apart from the idle gear bearing has play so its worn the clutch gear a bit uneven
ive another motor to strip so hopefully ove 1 good motor out of 2

Who can repair gear dogs ?
Id like to put a new edge on them
new gears are a bit pricey maybe usa has a source of new gears an half the price of uk??

Going to be an easy build as nothing too bad inside just 1 gear set and a bush to be fitted in the kickstart shaft hole
new bearings seals and she be good to race

The previous owner didnt ride it anyways
The crap i washed out of the cases i was expecting bits to fall out at me but im happy its only 4 shaft bearings 2 gears a pair of idle bearings crank seals and gaskets
kick shaft is a tad loose in the case so getting a bronze bush fitted at the machine shop and everything in spec
plenty of time inbetween to paint my frame and swingarm forks springs and source some ss spokes

A few pics of engine strip and cases split really been lucky as between the 2 boxes ive just 2 gears to buy new and their numbered 373 / 379 which makes identifying easy
Cases perfect no spun bearings all tight as a nut
tiny bits of corrosion in bottom crank chamber so will have to ckean that and fill with something to stop a hole coming through

always good to find a set of cases and guts in solid shape!

steel fill machine and case harden then temper
beats buying new stuff

Did you have any problem with shrinkage?...errrr...

A local library somehow has a 3D printer and a 3d scanner..
The scanner scans your part..well, haha...and supplies a digital (oops again) file for the 3d printer equipment to print the sample part...in plastic I suppose.

The library is encouraging people to learn to use it, soo...

I theorized about

1. scanning a part...(stop it, a motorcycle part)
2. tinkering with the scale of the digital rendering, adding where appropriate design changes are desired, and adding enough for shrinkage and extra material to machine away to the right surfaces
3. 3D printing in plastic which would serve as the plug
4. then make the core boxes and all like you did.
