I feel the same way, with a little light bike (125), the pound for pound, dollar for dollar fun factor is unbeatable, i had a 02' wr 125, and i bought it after getting tired of my 360 wxe. I was faster on the 125 and remember going down hill you need zero horsepower!, where we live (oregon coast), its pretty tight riding and the 125 worked great. It was only lacking in the real fast 6 th gear open stuff, which i don't like to ride in. Oh by the way in 5 years of riding it never broke down. thats why i just bought a 08' cr 125 from bill in salem, sold my 06 te 450, got bored. Iam glad to see kelly go for the wr!!

I understand why you love the 125 I have a 510 TE which sits around alot since i started riding the 125 .It is hard to understand but once you ride a Husky 125 at least for me all other bikes are not that much fun.But then there is my storie i keep telling how after 30 years of racing DESERT on some of the best money can buy open class 4 strokes i NEVER won a expert race. Then i take my kids 2 year old Husky 125 start winning against the open class and win a AMA National open class 50 A # 1 plate
So for me i do understand why you like the 125 .Now for 2009 i do not feel the need to push it to the edge i have done that and know it can be done on a 125 .This year i
am having a blast just racing . One more thing my 24 year old son matt has also parked his 510 and is racing the old in need of work 2006 CR 125 in the Hare and Hound Nationals just for fun as time permits as he is still in school .It was to be for fun just something to do but with 2 wins and 1 second he also might win a # 1 plate

It says the image has been moved or deleted from your photobucket account. You probably still see it cause it is in your computer cache.

    Totally agree.

My preference for the 250 over the 300 is that I can rev the 250 out between corners and most 300's sign off earlier (not as much overrev) so you need to short shift. I also feel the extra bottom when trying to go fast is pushing the front end around and not needed. It's a personal thing. All this said the WR300 I took a short ride on was awesome. I;m not dissing the bikes, just don't fit my ridding style as well as a 250.

From the responses and my own findings the 125's are polarizing. if you don't get it, have not ridden one much and don't learn the way of the 125 it just does not make sense. Believe me this has been a 2 month struggle for myself to get my head around going from a 450 I LOVE to a 125, just seems goofy. In the end I'm as fast or faster on the 125 and have more fun. I race very little these days and plan to not race a lot. I ride for fun and the 125, because you have to ride it like you stole it is FUN! It's not forgiving, you have to fan the clutch and row the gearbox but the mountain bike feel makes up for all that.

    - I'll be getting a TXC510 with a bigbore kit next year :D

Now that's funny! Personally, I get it...I understand where you are coming from.

    1. You like the new car (er new bike) smell...who doesn't. I heard those WR 125's smell really good.
    2. You have ADD and this will help soothe the nerves.
    3. You're not getting any younger, but who is! This will make you feel young and edgy again! Hell, your CR 125 already has you feeling like a big bore slayer! Can you imagine it in the new frame with the updated ergos?
    4. You'll pick up some speed (already have), but more significantly, you'll feel like you're going even faster too! Nothing sings prettier than a 125 on the pipe.

I'm sure I'll be converted after I get to get my mitts on it...if I can pry you off of it! Maybe I should have spent some money on my 2003 KX 125 before giving up on it. It was scary to ride that thing on the pipe through the woods because when it produced power it was mainly in the mid to upper range, which is hauling @$$ and I kept getting forearm pump like crazy on the clutch side from fanning it. Plus, the suspension was ping pong stiff and I was deflecting all over the damn place because it was so light!

Good on you for going back to your roots. I like how you can ride and find pleasure in just about any bike...size or otherwise!

Once you learn how to ride a 125 you will not need to fan the clutch as much as you think .

Whenever I hear from you, I always have to take your advise with a grain of "50 A Class Champion" salt! Seriously, you are my hero and give me hope to race one season just to challenge myself...just once though...one and done so that I can say I raced. A lot of us just don't have it to ride a 125 like it needs to. Maybe, it has a lot to do with set-up. I think if my KX 125 had a plusher set-up with a little more on the bottom, it would have been really nice. By the way, I like the idea of not fanning the hell out of the clutch too...gives me hope to ride one again.

A couple of years ago at a local 24hr race the local Husky dealer Bill from 5th Gear offered his WR125 to everyone to ride. I'm not sure how many peeps slung a leg over it -it was quite a few- and just about every person turned there fastest lap aboard the 125. No doubt they move and it makes enough power for mere mortals to get it done, usually at a faster pace than what a big bike can throw down .

I'd add a 125 to the stable but never at the expense of my 450. 1/3 of my riding is with my kid and other kids. I really enjoy riding behind them and watching so the 4 stroke is great. Putts along like an xr400 :D but can stretch my arms when the urdge arises.

Nice! I'd like to try the 400 version. My Husky dealer dropped KTM after 20+ years. I told him that Beta might appeal to his former KTM 4 stroke customers. I sometimes miss my '01 TE400, but I've discovered I'm really a 2 stroke guy. Enjoy that bike.

Yes I do like that...but not ready for a change quite yet.

I believe our Only "Husky Dealer" (this year)

is also selling those fine pieces of ART .

I have ridden several Betas as a buddy of mine is a dealer. IMHO it is not near the bike the husky is. Then again they are all good so whatever motivates you.

this is a pix form the day i spent dualsporting the 450...

That`s exactly what makes our sport so enjoyable, differences in bikes, styles, likes, dislikes & being able to change anything at anytime to do something else.

I will absolutely miss my Husky, but have a little project on the side :D
Will wait & see what the 2010 brings :)

As for the BETA, it fits "me" like a glove, super smooth, tried & proven RFS engine, frame built by one of the best & ease of maintenance/parts incl: Big tanks, dampers, shrouds - almost anything is readily available, the ergos & engine are so perfect it`s ridiculous, felt like a "refined 99" (TE410) my favourite bike. So we`ll see how it goes in the real world for a while, if it`s no good - so be it, i`ll wait till Husky gets back on the game with a complete package & i`ll be back on like a flash. I think it`s the difference between
Well developed old skool (RFS & Carb)
    vs
Getting There new era (New gen Husky & EFI)

splitting hairs, it`s marginal. But i don`t fix them anymore for my main income so i`m not interested in doing what Husky should of already done. That`s just Shop time vs Ride time.

I must have missed your posts where you had issues. Other than ejecting my battery which was a two big tie down fix i have had NO issues with my 08 TXC450, pillar of reliability. Why does it look like the engine was painted on it? Something catastrophic happen in 800 miles? Just wondering what was up? Obviously I missed something.
