Have done 17000km on mine now Jim. A few minor electrical probs . No pod mod , no valve check , leave bike alone except for maintence. Don't use it as an enduro type ride and it will last forever. Mine starts like new every time, doesn't stall , same plugs , love it. You won't regret it
Congrats on the bike Jim. There are plenty of TR650 owners around Melbourne. In Nov 2014 we managed a gathering of 10 TR650s from this forum in Kinglake. Must be about due for another one.
I think you're going to love it, Jim. I've had mine since new and it's probably the best all around bike I've ever owned (Number 7 in 14 years), no plans of selling mine anytime soon. Enjoy!
Thanks All Got some new tyres going on this Saturday (if Pablo's Tyres is able to get them in by then). Went for the Mitas E-07 because I couldn't get the Tractionators. Assuming I get the tyres, I'll be taking it for a run up through the dirt roads above Hurstbridge this weekend. I'll be taking it easy - I've been riding road bikes for the last 20 years with only the occasional excursion onto dirt, and will need to revive my dirt skills. I stumbled across a website for a bicycle group called Gravel Grinders that has GPX files for a bunch of dirt road rides around Melbourne averaging around 70kms (a nice afternoon ride). Website here http://melbournegravelgrinders.blogspot.com.au/ Also found out that the BMW Motorcycle Club of Victoria (of which I'm a member) has a GS-911 Wifi Professional and that there's a Service Day later this month. I'm definitely in for any Melbourne Terra ride Jim
If someone puts out the call, I'll be there. ....and here's a bit more about that day. http://www.austouring.com/forum/showpost.php?p=55799&postcount=164 Wonder who's still got a TR out of that lot.
A mate of mine just got Tractionators fitted at MotoGC in Thomastown this week for his Africa Twin. But the E07s are very good too.
