Moto Piaggio a 3 ruote, Italian for "Piaggio motorcycle with 3 wheels a Piaggio scooter with two tilting wheels up front
I know where there is a nice Rotax based 650 they can get for this. It even allows them to continue using the TR frame and components without modification and its a great 'day long' dual sport. ...
For a brief time I had a WR300 and TXC511 sitting side by side in the garage and I kept having that vision. That should be one awesome combination.
So BMW is still trying to foist this abomination on the market: SUM-Project. "European Safer Urban Motorcycling" . Good riddance
c1 drivers are the craziest ever. you can ride them with your car drivers license, so most c1 riders never learnt to ride a motorbike. plus, the "chassis" sort of makes them riders feel invincible. i have seen c1 drivers prposedly get themselves into situations on the autobahn that NO motorcycle rider would ever want to experience. the appropriate name for the c1 would have been "rex cramer, danger seeker". r
Yep that's the MP3. In the UK the early ones needed you to have a bike license but the later ones have the front wheels spaced wider apart which changes their vehicle category and you can then ride (drive?) it on a car license. C1 was/is the BMW C1 which was a 125 or 200cc scooter with an upper roll cage and roof. The idea was that you wore seat belts when riding it and you were strapped in the safety cage and no longer needed a helmet. It never got approval here for use without a helmet so you had all the up high weight but still needed a helmet. The 200 actually rode OK when you got used to the weight and they are quite sort after now by city commuters. BMW stopped production a few years back. Dave
Bajaj makes makes one of KTM's best engines in the 390, so I have no problem with them making the husky engine. I mean take a KTM, back off the state of tune a teensy bit to increase durability, bug hunt the electrical system, and increase fuel mileage, and you've got Husky doncha? CTS would be nice as long as I can get to that front sprocket.
Getting to the front sprocket is a piece of cake. Easier than many conventional bikes and you get to grease the pivot while you are there.
Agreed, it is a non issue. And as stated forces you to grease the swing arm pivots which is stupid EZ. Really a brilliant highly functional design IMHO.
We got our first "official" dealer communication from S Pierer/Pierer Ind AG this morning. In very vague translation it says the Husqvarna brand will remain it's own "brand" but business activities will be merged into the "group" So really nothing new but it's official and due to confidentiality clause I won't copy/paste here as it's really nothing earth shattering or very specific but it is from the new entity.
I would imagine it is going to be a tough year for husky dealers until this gets sorted and new product actually arrives.
I think Kelly is right. In this totally ego centric world, I'm a bit bummed because I need a new bike in the fall and I am not confident there will be a 250 two-stroke for me to buy. Seems like it might take a year or two for things to shake out.
Attachments: Following today’s closing date (the designated date that a sale of company property is understood to be completed), final steps of the acquisition process with BMW Group and a positive completion of antitrust examination, I would hereby like to present myself as the new owner of Husqvarna Srl. Employees of the Pierer industrial group, including the brands KTM and Husaberg, will already visit Varese today to gain an overview of the current situation and define the next steps. Right from the start of this new business activity I would like to make clear that Husqvarna will be integrated into the group with due respect regarding its strength as a brand. For Husqvarna, which celebrates its 110th anniversary in 2013, it will be the beginning of a new and successful era under our leadership. Within the coming weeks at the latest, we will provide you with new information and would kindly ask you for your cooperation and patience during this period. The usual contact persons are at your disposal in Varese.
Thanks Bill. Interesting times. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best for you guys. You have put in the decades of hard work and hope this ends up being a good thing for you in the end.
I think just as Scott Harden said earlier this guy will do very well for Husqvarna in the long run,and he knows this man from experience. After birth pangs it will be a really good deal for everyone.
