ADB (Australian Dirt Bike) 2010 250F shootout with the TC250

I agree, that's what I thought the figures don't match the graphics, so what to believe??I also found something else very interesting today which MAY reflect why we are getting a lot of conflicting reports about the power...I am going to post a separate post about this in a minute but since it's also relative to this thread I will put it here as well. Today we removed the cover off the accelerator pump and were shocked to find the timing screw had ALREADY been modified!!! The nipple at the end of the screw had been removed to reduce the original factory setting gap and tied back with a piece of wire very similar to the O ring mod already mentioned on this forum!!! This apparently increases the petrol spray timing from approximatly every 2 to 3 seconds to every second. So WHO did this as this was a brand new bike just recently imported from Australia??? Well it certainly wasn't the Aussies as I spoke to them about it, so it must have been done in Italy! Maybe the Husky technicians finally realized this and started doing it to the bikes on the production line??? Now IF that was the case and IF some of the test bikes were from an earlier production and didn't have this mod done then this COULD account for some of the inconsistency we are seeing!?!? I will try and post a pic of what I am saying in a minute. Also look out for my next post talking about this and another couple of mods we did today!

I just received the January Dirt Bike Magazine in the mail and they roast the Husky for it's lack of top end power????

Their description matches the dyno chart posted earlier in this thread. In that scan, it appears the Husky is making less peak power than the 2006 TE250 which dynoed at around 32 hp?

Hopefully it is that adjustment the OP referred to.

dyno it with modifications.. somebody with the equipment needs to step up and find the long lost horsepower.

It would be very dissapointing if the mag measurements are the real peak potential.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Ty wouldn't put them on his bikes unless they produced results.

not enough power,,, like stated before Burson came from dead last at the start in Tecate and burned through the entire pro class up to 2nd after the first 20 mile loop and eventually finished 3rd, he passed a load of fast 450 guys in the process. I am with all of us fans,,,,I have ridden 2 TXC250s,,,,this bike is top tier no holds barred winner (a no excuses winner) . edgy Race bikes need some dialing in. When the podiums start to fill the voices will change.

Robert, I think you're dead-nuts right here... podiums will speak MUCH louder than any numb-nuts dirt rag "journalist". Results will speak for themselves. Invest in a few good riders and mechanics and they will make the bikes work for them... just like the "big 5". Anyone who thinks the Japs and KTM could field a successful team "out of the box" is a moron.

Apparently the Australian Dirt Rider mag Jan edition is coming out with a similar shootout and the Husky came third!!!

Guys the ADB is in my opinion a bit hit and miss these days. Some of their reports are suspect, too limited or outright biased. I have raised concerns with some of thier issues recently on their internet page only to be told by their editor that I am basically a wanker (my words). That said I do feel that the current crop of Huskies are on the right track but that the jury is out on the tests. I do not believe in a universal dislike of Huskies and therefore conclude that the bikes are either still work in progress or are delivered to the mags not tuned correctly. If it the latter then they deserve a basting, if the former then we have to cop the observations and hope the factory corrects them There are no isses out there that are not easily remedied (although I think we have an inferior efi system to many of our competitors-based only feedback in these pages). I think we all got so hyped about the new engine etc and that whilst it prommising is maybe not batting 500 out of the box. Perhaps our loyalty/love for the brand has made us biased and sensitised to critical observations-just a thought.
