If that picture is to actual scale. The AJP PR7 has the longer wheelbase of all of them. The SWM's having the shorter wheelbase of the lot.
The SWM SuperDual has a 58" wheelbase, the 610/630/RS650 have a 59" wheelbase, and the PR7 has a 61" wheelbase.
Starts to get a little squished. I still wonder how many changes were made between the 630 and RS650.
The 600cc motor in the Husqvarna TE/SM 630 is a great motor that really wakes up after some tweaking and an exhaust. It is not a KTM 690 killer though (mine isn't anyway). Maybe Ampelio Macchi left some HP on the table during the days of Husky/BMW. I am stoked to see the beloved "630" live on. Some Husky eye candy for the thread. Ty Davis's TE 630:
Just do like BMW illustrates here: View: https://youtu.be/TG93e6P5zMM That's how it works, every time you ride, when you own a dual sport bike, right?
Hopefully the superdual competes (price wise) with the klr would make another really well priced option. I have to say the specs on the pr7 sounds awesome, a real dirt adv bike.
The Hot Blond girlfriend must have had that all set up for him. They just abandon the raft and row boat ever so often and find it again down stream. So they could get out and ride another day on his BMW GS. He even burned some rubber on the rear tire a little. Probably pissed off some tree huggers doing that, or this would have been a full 1 minute commercial. Living dangerously there cutting into the pavement section of road like that. Not even looking over his shoulder. He could have had a wreck with a Nature Conservation tour bus or something? Oh yah he's riding on the left side of the road. So that's probably not a problem where this was filmed.
The SuperDual has 3cm less wheelbase than the RS650 - I eyeballed it when scaling the images, you can see the same scaled images below.
I think the KLR is already dead in Europe. The SuperDual is supposed to be around 7000 euros in Europe ($6500). That's a very good price compared to a KLR - considering you get a bike with modern EFI, six gears instead of five, better breaks, more power, and less weight.
That's exactly what I did is take a 7" plastic desk ruler on the screen and measured the 4 bikes using the opposite edge which is 18 cm. Now I had already realized that the line of bikes were all pictured in the same scale. I thought all these AJPs were shorter wheelbase compared to other bikes with 18" and 21" wheels, I could tell just looking at it that it seemed longer and may possibly even have a degree or so steeper head angle. I didn't bother to research it though. Thanks for the information. It was just interesting to me to find that the AJP was a longer wheelbase than all the others.
Assuming its for stability reasons for adv riding, it has more ground clearence then the others. Now i Want to look up the wheelbase on other adv bikes and big bore offroad ones like yours.
Better suspension too. That KLR front fork looks like it would defect if you look at it wrong. What do you call "non-inverted" forks these days anyway? They might have been "conventional" at one point, but inverted forks have been around so long now that I fell they are the traditional forks these days.
I owned a KLR for a few years. I can tell you the one pictured below easily has $2000 worth of farkles. If that SuperDual comes with any of what's pictured, like the crash bars, or boxes that's a dam good price.
TE 630 wheelbase: 1485mm/58.46in, seat height: 945mm/37.20in, weight with out fuel: 150kg/330.7lb, tires 18/21in Superdual wheelbase: 1465mm/57.68in, seat height: 860mm/33.85in, weight: 159kg/350.5lb, tires: 17/19in The comparable tech specs look good to me. I am not a fan of the 17/19in wheels on the SWM but the shorter seat height will be a big plus for some riders. They are saying the Superdual will be available in the USA in the second half of 2016!
Do you think that the Sub frame will be the same? Will be interesting to transform my TE to a adventure bike at will.
