I have no problem waiting on good stuff either. I just need those crash bars before I take off at the end of June. Hopefully they will be in by then.
We might have been a little over-optimistic with our first estimate on the crash bars. But new parts take time and we must make several prototypes to get the mounting system correct. Also when the deisng is finalized they are not just readily available. The equipment we work with is very sophisticated and we must create special tooling, jigs, etc. This usually takes the bulk of the time and fortunately is usually a one time thing if we do not make any updates after the first production. Regarding the skid plate we liked the first design but we knew we could do better so we just requested a second prototype get built. Why? Well we wanted to protect the rear brake but we concerned with possible interference so we make some improvements. Trust me, we want these completed as badly as all of you, but we don't rush to release "something" we strive to make the best "thing". Thanks for your patience.
At this point I am not comfortable giving another date on the crash bars based on the fact that we did not hit the first one. We are close and my latest prototype was due today and I didn't see it so I am hoping for tomorrow. Once we approve a prototype I have the ability to generate a landing date and excluding any broken machines, floods, tornadoes, or other acts of God they will be shipping on that landing date. So please stand by and I will do my very best to provide that when I have it sorted out. Again, thanks for your patience. Without you we would not be here.
Wanted to chime in again and say there is a hot off the press update on the bars at this link! http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/tr650-crash-bars.30959/page-3#post-306234
Reasonable update and appears to be candid. You seem like good folks and this kind of forum participation would be rare from a "built to the lowest price" chinese company. I look forward to the crashbar release so I can put in my order. I've had good luck with some of the other products I've purchased from you for my Strada. I'm curious, is the rear brake reservoir guard also in the pipeline close to production? I've been holding off waiting to see if that will soon be available as well. Thanks in advance.
This skidplate looks perfect. Great protection, great design everything looks really good. I am definitely going to spend the extra money on this because it seems to be the best piece out there. How wide is the skidplate at its widest? Do you have any PDF's of dimensions?
Nice design, I like it best from all I have seen until now. Offering best engine protection it seems. The only issue I see is on the left side when the shift lever get's a little bit bended to the inside. It looks like it would hit the skidplate then and prevent shifting. I would like to see the skidplate extended on this side to even prevent the shift lever being bended (Rotax engines seem to be quite sensitive for broken shift axels with the original shift levers). Regards, Christoph
Thanks for the update. Your products are worth waiting for. Would altrider be interested in building a center stand for the terra?
No plans to make a center stand for this bike. Sorry! Also I do not have a PDF doc showing the skid plate dimensions that is available for the public. Was there a specific dimension you were after?
I think SW Motech is the only show in town for a center stand.....mine showed up last night.....I hope to put in on this evening
My concern is if the altrider plate will fit with sw- motech center stand. If you could take a photo or two of the mount. Thanks
