Every time I ride Cody's KTM 150... which pulls my 190+ (with gear) around like a rocket ship, I keep thinking how fun it would be to have a Husky 150. I refuse to go back on a pumpkin and want to get Cody back on a Husky ASAP, so a Husky 144/150 would be the ticket for both of us.
I know you! You're no fatty and based on my experiences riding Cody's KTM 150, I'll bet a Husky 144/150 would surprise the crap out of you. I'd bet you'd be faster on one than you are on your TXC 250. Could be wrong, but I'd bet a six pack or two on it...
I agree but at a race a little while back some kid on a YZ125 handed most everyone there ass on a huge open grass track / Washougal MX track in the pro class. 450's and all in this class. Amazing. - "If you twist it you will win"
I think Jake might be faster on Shanes 09 WR125 than he is on his 08 TXC250. I feel pretty fast on mine and as fast as on my 2010 TXC250 but I for sure loose ground on longer uphills. The TXC tears a new hole where the 125 is pinned and giving her all she's got while larger bikes walk away. Fortunately those are very small portions of the day. The 125 is faster on flat or down hill because of the ridiculous handling, no engine braking and fantastic brakes. Both are great technical hill climbers.
Wonder if and when Husqvarna will start doing demo days? There's just not enough newer WR125's around for people to test ride are they? I'm amazed at the power it has and can't imagine needing more power in the woods. I'm sure others would agree given the chance to ride them. BTW, I'm keeping the WR and selling the GS. WR Bob
I wish that we would get a dealer in the SERA area(Ms,Al,La,Ar). Being that Husky is sponsoring the Nat'l Enduros, they should send a test ride truck to events. I bet they would get a lot of takers. I rode my 1982 250XC this weekend in a SERA modern H/S and got 5th 45+A. The thing is just as fast as I remember and no radiators to knock off. ;^).
Husky just had a demo day at round 1 of the Hare n Hound National But had no 125 to test . I know it is a lot of trouble and there are a lot of bikes in the Husky line but i still beleive if some one would just have a 125 out there to test I have let alot of people test my bike and Husky has received some sale from it .We here all know all the good things about the 125 so why say them again Lets just hope a demo day somes up again this time with a 125 in it
Hopefully Husqvarna will have a demo at Mid-Ohio and advertise or find a way to get the word out. They did have demo rides there in 2006 and my son got to ride a few models. They had it way over on the back side by the MX track and took people in the woods, but not a lot of people knew about it.
A 200 would be nice, but frankly, a 125 feels sooooooo much lighter and flicks side to side much easier. A 150 is just more of the same 125 goodness with a fatter midrange. Sheer power output isn't much different I'd guess. I had a Gas Gas 200, it was a great bike, but it was no 125 when it came to outright mountain bike quickness in handling. The problem is not chassis either, it's the rotating mass of the engine. I've ridden KTM 200's also, and seriously, I'd rather have the 125. It's hard to explain, but 125 feels much more sorted than the 200 to me. As far as marketing? I hope Husky comes in with a 150, and a 200. They'd sell well. I do wonder if that 1987 Cagiva engine in the 250/300 will ever be changed? Not that it's a bad thing. Husky has continued to perfect that engine, and it's probably the best, most reliable two stroke in the world. It'd be nice to move the chain to the left side though, so brakes would be more common.
KTM and Gas Gas already make a 200, I say lets be different and go 175. That keeps it closer to it's 125 roots. A 200 is like a pipey 250 sometimes. GP
Well, Tasky's does one up here every year with every model they have available to sell. Long travel for you, though. Great time regardless. I accidentally got on a Husaberg 570 and .......really liked it Much more forgiving than my 510 believe it or not. Anyway, hopefully more of the bigger BMW/Husky dealers will be able to do this throughout the country as the brand grows.
A small part of Shane's interview with Cycle News. Watts talked about his ride in the desert: "I pretty much rode conservatively and didn't take any big chances and ended up 11th overall. I was really happy with that. On the 150, I was a little slow off the start there, giving up some power against the big bikes, but once we got into a rhythm, I jumped in with a few guys and got into a freight train the whole first loop. Like I said, I didn't push hard or anything like that, just rode conservatively. I didn't want to have no more crashes or anything like that, so I basically looked at it like a fast trail ride.
