Well RE's tail rack mounts up perfectly with BR Moto side racks, no mods needed. Solid as a rock and love the look. Now I just have to find the funds for some bags. Santa? image.jpg image.jpg

I mounted up my new Nomadic rack yesterday and while I honestly haven't used it yet I'm quite happy with it. I simply unbolted the factory plastic rack and dropped it into place on top of the Husky factory side racks. I'll try to post a few pics tomorrow.

Edit. I guess pics aren't necessary as my setup is just like Dangslow's except I still have the factory exhaust.

Since Dangslow posted pics I decided that I didn't need to but looking at his got me thinking something just didn't look right. My Nomadic rack is slightly different then the one he received and the ones in the pics on Nomadic's website. Here's a few pics of mine. Sorry for the glare and cell phone pics.

Edit: I even found a 3rd variation in this post: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=22912973&postcount=2140

I just exchanged emails with Justin from Nomadic and he said I received the most recent version and it is drilled to be compatible with Givi hard bags which is exactly what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with the service.

When I went to install mine it turned out that there had been a production problem and the holes didn't quite line up. A little work with a file fixed that, and Justin has it covered...good service and communication from that guy. The rack is bomber and you can tweak the height/angle by arranging the spacers. In my case I got it pretty much level with the Touratech panniers - it looks like you could land a helicopter back there.

A question for you folks with the nomadic racks, but no side racks.
I used the grab handle on my stock rear rack all the time when I am rolling the bike out of the garage or out of the storage shed at work.

Can you get a decent grip on the nomadic rack?

I have the same one shown in the link you posted. Must be the first version.
I may go to something else down the road. I'm not sure I like the plate. I fought it on the install, none of the holes lined up, and the end of the plate near the front mounts digs into the side of the seat. It has some flex on the tail end. And the lack of grab bars, had me looking at the factory one right after I bought this one.

Only with the tips of your fingers. I grab the sides where it is bent down. The edge of the plate feels great digging into your fingers.
Bending some 1/4"-3/8" alum round bar to make a grab handle, and weld it to the sides of the plate where it bends down would provide a nice grab.

I agree the rack isn't a great grab handle, but because I snapped my stock plastic one off moving the bike I prefer the all aluminum rack.

Just fitted the Nomadic rack. It took a while to organise because I have the SWMotec side pannier racks and they sat on top of the original rack. My good friend made some spacers and 'bob's your uncle'.

Has anyone added the hardware to the Nomadic rack to mount a Givi hardcase/Husky factory case yet? Looks like I'll need to order one of these but not sure what else I might need? http://www.giviusa.com/givi-products/spare-parts/hardware-components/z124-attachment-clamp-detail

Here's the only other needed bits from GIVI: http://www.giviusa.com/givi-products/spare-parts/hardware-components/z125-mushroom-spacers-detail

You'll have to source the bolts locally but the latest version of the Nomadic rack is already drilled for it. This is very convenient as some days I don't want or need to carry both bags and can just take one on the back rack.

I ordered my Nomadic rack towards the end of January and did install the givi mounting parts. I'll get some pictures posted. The hole pattern I received looks about right for the givi hardware but the front to back spacing leaves the mushrooms too close to the attachment clamp by about an inch if I recall correctly. I had to drill additional holes. The side to side spacing is correct so that helps lining up the new holes.

There are some gotcha's though. Using one pair of Nomadic's pre-drilled holes I ended up with the case to far forward preventing seat removal without first taking the case off.

Using the Givi V46 case the placement front to back of the givi parts is very forgiving. The rounded case bottom allows the case to roll onto the mushrooms. The more square bottom of the givi trekker/husky oem case is much less forgiving and required some spacers to avoid an interference fit with the flat plane of the rack.

Has anyone received a Nomadic with the correct hole spacing for the givi parts?

According to Justin I did. It appears correct visually but I haven't measured it yet. You can see a pic of my rack above.
