Bill, thanks again for letting me ride the 630
When we were talking about all the little improvements that the 630 has, I forgot to ask you if it was just me or does the 630 not seem any heavier than a 610 to you too?
The advertised weight has been an issue in my mind, but weight wise the 630 felt no heavier than my 08 when doing lock to lock parking lot maneuvers or out on the street. Some tight single track would give a better impression, but I don't think there is going to be great deal of wieght related difference. Nice Bike!

What was your impression of the FI on the 630? The reviews have indicated the bike surges and snatches at low throttle openings. Expecting mine late May early June and hope any hick-ups are sorted out by then.

You can really never critique these bikes too much until you put 500- 600 miles on the. They are a whole different animal then. Especially when PUed and iBeated.

I didn't notice any roughness, but the 02 sensor had been removed and the PU plug installed, that made a big difference on my 610.

I really don't know much about these bikes and what to do with it once I have it. I've seen how to strip off that goofy charcoal filter crap that's on there. What else should I do right off the bat? What's this pickup plug and O2 sensor business and what's it do to the bike?

You can remove the O2 sensor and pop the PU plug {load resistor] wich puts into a new map and also keeps default codes from popping up on the dash.at the same time we have a plug that caps off the pipe where the 02 sensor was.
The stock bike we have spits a bit when cold for quite awhile then runs pretty good .It will still snuff out at an idle just after decel.
The one Steve /Excuvator rode has dual Leo Vince open pipes on it with the Pu plug and no other mappping as of yet and does indeed run smoother and never spits or dies. Its also very quiet considering it has 2 open core Leos on it ,much quieter than a 610 with a single Leo on it so the 2 muffler theory really isnt a bad idea, more costly and little more weight.
We are going throw the ibeat on the std one tomorrow and see if we can get the little glitch out of it.like Willie said you need to get some miles on anything before you can really dial it in.One thing that did surprise me is both 610/630 have the same amount of traditional Husky valve/cam chain noise considering 2 completely different valve trains.billlf

I think as far as exhaust goes, I'll leave it stock for a while. If I put exhaust on it later on, I think I'd like to shave as much weight as possible in the process and get a single sided exhaust. I think it looks better, anyway.

    Bill,

Any chance that the silencers and crossover from the 630 would adapt to a 610 without too much trouble? Might be an option for us old quiet guys to pick up the parts from all these guys planning on putting single pipes on their 630s.

    630 power up.

I am planning on picking up a 630 this week YAAAY! So I was talking to my dealer about the Power up kit (O2 mod and air box mod) he said he had no clue about it being used on the 630, Is it? wondering what to expect when I get it. Should I ask for it or would that be foolish?

Well my hopes of a 630 in the future were all but snuffed out last week as I had to buy a truck to replace the Tacoma with a rusted frame. I called our local shop and they are going to try and arrange some test rides for folks next week so I put my name on the list. Big thanks to Bill and the folks who have already been on them:thumbsup:

Just curious though: when I was looking at the TE630 in the shop it almost "looked" a bit shorter, did they increase the rake any? Also, how would you compare the overall power and power delivery of the engine to the 610? does it still feel "linear" like the 610?

    Thanks!

I can't believe the Leo pipes still have that ugly gap between that heat shield,is that the best they could come up with? I'll just wait until the Arrow system is available and replace everything.

Last I checked the Arrows dont have spark arrestors, which is a problem for TEs, if not SMs.
