It's a Terra in black (non ABS), minus the stickers. I ordered the black plastics when I picked it up new. The reds are put aside in excellent condition.

GREETINGS! I'm not a Terra owner but I want to be I have a 2012 Husaberg fe570 (amazing) and a Buell Ulysses XP, but I'm after a Terra to use as a RTW long haul adventure bike. I used to own a 2009 BMW 650 xchallenge, same motor as the Terra, and I'm keen to find one somewhere closer to the west coast (maybe not Cali due to licensing and restricting?) in the next couple months. I'm hunting on Craigslist, ADVrider, and google, no one seems to list on ebay, and here is my other option. Any help much appreciated, as I'm on a budget and need options! Thanks in advance

http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/2013-strada-for-sale-1-400-miles.83202/ Mine's for sale in San Francisco!
Thanks for that isldtime, I saw both of those a while ago actually. I should be more clear in that there actually ARE some west coast bikes, and I'm picky The first ad is a bone stock one with little kms for 4500...not bad and I've had a word with the owner The second ad is 5500 for basically stock, black and 8000miles...overpriced IMHO There's always the possibility that one is lurking around I haven't seen, or a new ad comes up, so I keep looking and asking. The other day someone was nice enough to tell me one was for sale in SLC at a dealer. It's got a few extras like luggage rack and soft panniers, a screen, a helmet and 12000miles and the shop wants 4900. Also a decent one in Reno, NV for 5000 with 5000miles and a few extras. TBH the Reno one is wining so far, but I'm after around that mileage with farkles and 4500. So i guess i have to look at a lot of them. I missed out on one in Medford, Oregon, which had good farkles, 5000miles, and was offered to me for 4600. Someone bought it the next day But, again, I really appreciate people helping me to look as I'm nowhere near there at present and it's going to have to be a sight-unseen purchase. It's not my preferred way to buy, but I've had to do it before. The other option is to just wait and hope there's a good one around for the right price and spend many days of my limited time just hunting/shopping for a bike all over the west...no thanks! Keep em coming...
Cheers Dinosan, I do like your bike but price and place make it not the right option for me. Remember my budget is $4500 and west coast. I would say that you have some nice farkles for sure on your bike, but you may get a faster sale if you bring the price down. I can see that bike being advertised for $5500 and getting somewhere between that and 5k...just my humble opinion. GLWS! Keep em coming please!
Ive seen the seattle craigslist one just put up too...stock and overpriced. A brand new one is available for $5500 out the door of a shop... $4500-$5000 max with under 10k miles and farkles please. Oh and out west still. Jeez, picky much?
http://tucson.craigslist.org/mcy/5445310343.html and just put knobbies on it. This time of year it may be impossible to get a Terra for under $5k unless it is a problem child. We are in prime riding season now, and into late June here in the south west USA. The Ebay sale was a fluke. I missed the auction by a day, or I guarantee it would have hit $3500 and I don't even need another bike. All the suckers selling have done so. Those who did not love their bike and needed cash for Christmas. I'm really surprised this Strada has not sold yet. I think it is because of the headlight setup, just plain UGLY. But it has nice bags etc. You may want to consider a BMW GS. OH wait, they cost more and are less of a bike, and the market is figuring that out, as you are one of those folks, and thus the prices for Terra's are stabilizing now. What I'm getting at is this, try buying a nice shape low mileage R80GS. They cost more used today than cost new and by alot. The Terra seems to be heading that way. It had a lull, but now that the GS911 if functional, peeps aren't as scared about service as in the past. That Strada is a great value, but I would for sure want to find out if it had the Pod mod and what type of driving the owner did. If it took lots of dirt, I would want to scope the bore before purchase. He paid $7400 for it and then added the goodies. Figure on a battery and tires and you should be good. Also, it has not sold, and he had dropped his price, so a good back story might get you this bike for $3700. And flying in from out of country dang sure is a good backstory. My Terra could be bought from me for around $7500, maybe. I have very cool add ons. Then I would have to go buy that Strada and fix it up with single can and Rekluse.
mag00, you seem to have a fairly switched on opinion and I'd have to agree for a fair part of it. but everyone has different reasons for selling and so a good deal on a TR650 can be found if the buyer is patient, which I am. I have about 3 months to sort this which is plenty of time, and I do hope my story is a good backstory to get someone willing to help me out with a deal! As for that Catalina bike, I did see it and the low price. But being practical as I am, when you factor in wheel change, sump guard, and a few other mods to do some significant ADV/DS touring you are spending quite a bit on a high mileage TR650. No problem if you intend to keep it forever, but I would like to have the option of a decent resale value after I put on big mileage. So if I find a bike with, say, 5000miles on it and put on 15000 it's still worth around $4000 if in decent shape and maintained. But if I buy a bike like this with 18000miles and add 15k, then I have a higher mileage bike which would be lucky to get $3-3500 in a couple years time. So I think it pays to get a lower mileage bike. With a discontinued, albeit capable, bike like the TR650 you will not get much for a high mileage example even if well farkled. As for riding season, I understand, but being overseas I can't likely buy a bike 6-8months b4 I arrive and expect a stranger to hold it for me. And since I don't have a riding mate in Los Angeles where I'm arriving, there's little chance of getting it collected. Road freight is out of the question expensive. So it either has to be a California bike (which means paying someone to help get it registered in advance for me, as it takes weeks), or an NV or AZ bike that I can go and collect and register in a day
California is a one day registration state. Long lines if you go to a major DMV. You will pay sales tax for used bike, unlike AZ. If you crack an aluminum rim out and about, you probably did something pretty extreme. That being said, it will take out your spoke wheel just as well, in either case you are buying a new wheel. So just run the tubeless rims until such a time. In fact, with you knowing that you have such wheels, you may not put yourself in such dangerous situation, lulling into a false sense of security. It will make you a more conscious driver. The Strada cost more from the start with the ABS etc. May or may not be a selling point to you, but for resale, only time will tell. The Terra is definitely the preferred model, but the Strada is a fine machine especially if you get it for the same money as a Terra. Here is a link to Franks website. Check him out, talk to him and maybe he can help or shed some insight for you. Hellofa nice guy. http://www.zmwadventures.com

If it's from out of state and has less than 7500 miles your application will be declined. Are you going to reside in Ca. or just arrive and ride? I don't know you plans but, if you are arriving in LA to start a tour from there and don't have someone to help out, you would be better off to find a bike close to LA. To have a bike shipped to LA from anywhere but close is very expensive. Shipping my bikes from CA. to KY. (1800 mi) in the moving van was cake, my wife's Mustang was $1250!
thanks isldtime and mag00 for the clarity on registrations and change of ownership. I don't need the bike to be registered in California, it's just where i'm arriving. I assumed it's faster, cheaper, and better value to get an OR, NV, or AZ bike due to no sales tax, faster rego, no emissions gear/restrictions, and longer periods of registration for less money.
If anyone in NSW Australia is looking for a good deal my well loved TR650 is up for sale. http://www.bikesales.com.au/private...rra]))&Service=[Bikesales])&pso=0&pss=Premium
Hey mag00, do you know what the registration costs are for AZ? How much for a year or 2year registration? I assume it's less than CA? And would I pay sales tax on a private sale? Or could I just fudge the 'value' or the bill of sale with the seller so that it's a low amount, therefore low tax? Still deciding on if its better to get an AZ/NV bike for costs/convenience of registration, or get a CA bike which is better location for my arrival but more costly? I won't be living in CA, but the bike might be stored there while I'm away between rides? There's a guy there who can help with registration for a small fee so it's not a 3wk wait on arrival to sort paperwork... Does ISLDTIME have any info on CA registration costs? Thanks guys
Should be about $100. My renewal fee was $85 for a year, you can get a two year I believe or maybe even a 5. There will be the title application fee. No sales tax on private party transfers. Geico has the cheapest minimum legal coverage from what I have found.
