"Does ISLDTIME have any info on CA registration costs? Thanks guys" All That stuff is off with our CPA for taxes but I know it was a lot higher than mag00 pays in AZ but! My registration now that we live in Kentucky is less than $33!
I guess I'm lucky, Here in Arkansas registration fees are $3.00, decal fee is $2.50, $10.00 title fee, and $.50 for filing a lien. Total - $16.00
The annual average taxes for a $150,000 house are roughly $1000 a year. BTW the fee's above were for a motorcycle.
But what about the annual damage to your vehicles from the continuous pot-holes on the expressway, and highways that end on a hill and shift 2 lanes over turning into gravel? I never want to drive through AR again, much less live with the Wednesdays Tornado sirens blasting. ymmv.
Be prepared for up to $800 first year with registration and taxes, AFTER State pollution conversion costs that should be zero if still PERFECTLY stock (NO 3rd party mufflers!) but it is still a hassle with customary out of state bs fees (??) CA DMV is the most corrupt state DMV I've ever experienced. Good luck. However, some rode across the border, even with 3rd party exhaust, and had no problem at all registering (6'-2" 280 lbs, lol.) The used bike I believe has to have something like 7600 miles on the clock to be accepted, even for the 6'-2" 280 lb. guy (??) Good luck.
Thanks for the info rride, but I was meaning the differences in buying in different states rather than moving a bike from out of state into California. SOLUTION!!! I ended up buying a bike in California...and the guy has gone to a friend at AAA who will have title transferred in the next 3wks into my name and registered for another year from the current registration expiry, so June 2017. The cost was 189 for registration and fee. Not too bad, although u can likely get it done for less in AZ or NM. The real kicker is I got the bike for 3000USD only, so Im pretty stoked!! Sorry about tho...its not a husky but their older lighter brother, a BMW g650x challenge fully farkled
I'm really not sure what your point is. Two of the last 3 bikes I bought had aftermarket exhaust and were not inspected. You do pay sales tax on bill of sale value. Don't even try to register a bike in Ca. with less than 7500 miles. But it is expensive to register in Ca. and the highways are in lousy condition and the interstates aren't much better. Ky. on the other hand did an inspection (vin verify) on both my bikes and didn't say a word about the GPR exhaust on the Husky or the missing evap. canister on the Ural. Oh and Ky. roads and highways are really nice around here.
OK, i give up. you guys are great and plenty of useful information...this forum however why i have to wait days for each of my posts to even be readable after I've made plenty already (all with a long delay) is beyond frustrating. and after asking the question twice to admin with NO REPLY, i'm going back to ADVrider. Good potential, but shouldn't be so challenging to participate in a forum. Hope u are reading this mr moderator! Ciao
Yo, octo. If I wasn't an ADV refugee I'd post mine there for kicks. You want to chat send me a PM. My TR is in SoCal...and on Craigslist...
