Middle Creek looks fun! Maybe try to find the hot springs? Nothing like dirty middle aged dirt bikers getting to know each other riding to a natural hot springs....very NorCal!! I'll bring some flip flops, and some cookies. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/mendocino/recreation/ohv/maps/ul-south.pdf Come on Woodschick. come on. We gonna take it easy. im on my 610. just cruisin along. Anyone else?
I've got a map for Upper Lake. We could unload at Penny pines. Maybe we could swing by and pick up Mr. Cooper? He probably knows the trails.
Yes. I want to ride this weekend. But instead I'll just sit on my butt and play Playstation. Again. Have fun :bonk:
Ouch! I feel for you, man. I just spent 4 months sitting on my butt watching my ankle heal. So what happened? That's a great photo! I'm still pissed off I didn't get photos of all the staples my surgeon used to close up the 4 surgical wounds... WoodsChick
Gonna take it easy, huh? Gonna ride your 610, are you? Well, maybe I could ride mine, too... You can forget about the hot springs, though. I could take you right to them, but they are closed to the public. There's a crazy man that lives right above them on the road. He used to live in a schoolbus and hang out on the road in a loincloth, but now he has an actual dwelling there, along with about 40 signs pertaining to private property and "the hot springs are closed!" It's too bad, too, as they used to be pretty neat. WoodsChick
Thought you lived in Egypt! The exact meeting time/place and who is going is a bit up in the air at this point. PM you cell phone # and we can make better contact.
So, is this ride happening? When and where? I almost have Eric convinced I should test ride my new 5gal tank before we go to Nevada...almost. WoodsChick
Current plan is: trade cell #'s and keep in contact noon at Penny Pines I've got a map of the area (thanks!) and other than when we rode no one knows the area at all. It will be another easy ride. 2 people from marin area, myself, and I might bring someone from this area depending on his last minute family commitments - wont know that till Saturday. The only sure thing - it is a go.
WoodsChick - if it makes a difference Mike is bringing a friend and may start riding earlier in the day, and of course Eric might like the Mikes style of riding more than mine (fast/slow people). Slight possibility someone else from my are might come too for a potential total of 6 people.
Mmm...well, it sorta makes a difference. I mean, starting at noon means only 5 hours of daylight. Last week we headed out at 11am and ended up arriving back at camp in the pouring down rain and pitch black darkness about 2 hours after sunset. We were also missing a rider (he missed a turn because he couldn't see in the rain and darkness, then couldn't figure out where he went wrong because everything looks different at night.) We were out til about 10pm looking for him. Even though we got back so late, we still only had 80 miles on the clock. I'm a big fan of an early start The real hang-up to riding this weekend is Eric. He's got a ton of stuff to do before we go ride Nevada for a week over Thanksgiving. He's in the garage right now working on his LC4 and then he's going to put my 5gal tank on (I'm scared...it's HUGE!) After the bikes are squared away he has to do some maintenance on the Pleasure Palace van. We just went last weekend and he doesn't really want to send money on gas to get up there, either... I don't know...I'd love to ride with you guys...let me see if I can change his mind by tomorrow...wish me luck! WoodsChick
Good Luck! Feel free to call Mike and work out any details like an earlier arrival time, I really don't know the area but you do, hence the default staging at Penny Pines. My plan is to get have everything loaded tonight and NOT check the forum in the AM so as not to get distracted (again). Maybe there won't be traffic jams like there was on the weekdays.
OK my son's team lost their first of their 3 soccer games so it's looking much better for going tomorrow..the next game is at 11, if they lose I'm in for tomorrow...
Looks like we lost the people close to the Upper Lake riding area.... After many msgs & phone calls it's been decided to check out some easy but scenic riding past Arnold on hwy 4. If there are any Goddess of the Trees that wants to go we can pick you up on the way. EDIT - pictures of the trip here: http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=884 .
