• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

[AUS] Melbourne TR Muster 2014 Kinglake 29.Nov

A quick bump for this one....it's coming Saturday, folks!! ;)
And it looks like we'll have as least one of every mod ever done to a TR in the pack.

Hope the weather plays along...

Looking forward to it Glitch. If there's anyone else coming up from the SE suburbs (I'm in beaumaris) and wants to ride up to Kinglake together, send me a PM.

Maybe shoot Nev a PM...he's in the north and you'd possibly go past his place (towards Kinglake) in any case.

Anyone from the Outer Eastern Areas is welcome to a meet at my place.
I'll be leaving earlier though (latest 9.00am) for "the long way" to Kinglake, bouncing around the backblocks incl. some gravel to get a little feel for
the TR + OEM Tourances.
PM for contact/ details.

The one that says it all...

11 TR's and one hell of a day!!
Loads more pics to come :-)

HuskyMuster0xx.JPG

11? Wow, I thought we set the record this spring with 5 in one place.....way cool Glitch

Looking at the pics, I seem to have been a bit too enthusiastic...10 instead of 11.
9 in most group-pics and 1 turned home straight from the morning meet, not coming along for the ride.... which turned into a cracker.
Although...we a couple of "honorary" TR's along :-))
(a Trumpy Scrambler and a KLR, both doing fantastic support and photo-"duties", thanks guys)

Making sure the thread can be viewed and linked by anyone, here's a shorty on yesterday's Terra/ Strada meet in Kinglake.

Getting 10 of them into one place is a bit of a record and the Vic/ Melbourne crowd rolled it all into a pearler of a day-ride, too.

Support and "photo-crew" were provided by the AusTourers, mainly Goodie on the KLR and Tim on the Scrambler (before the "moral" support of Doug and Stephen/ Steven?/ Oaters)...thanks for the company, guys! :chug:

Here are a few shots from the day...

Thanks everyone for showing up and making a fantastic day out of it!!:clap::clap:

Terrific day guys! Credit to the event coordinator Glitch. Some great trails that were new to me. Yep, that's me in the textile suit and pacman backpack.

My version of events -

The general gaggle at the Kinglake meet-point, with some ring-ins -

Got ourselves organised; Terras up one end -

Stradas up the other -

Glitch led off in a roughly northeasterly direction, taking interesting roads & tracks.

First stop at Murchison Gap, where I could pick the dust out from my teeth  -

Down the Gap, past Strath Creek, we turned left onto Upper King Parrot Creek Road & its bridge (sorry guys, didn't get everyone & you'll have to help out with handles on some) -

Glitch -

DeLewis I think -

Goodie on the Kwaka riding Sweep (although now I was  ) -

Alone as Sweep and sans-dust, I stopped for a couple more pics -

Everyone waited patiently for me to catch up ..... more to come .......

We set off to find the Yea Spur Road, which was great fun, and wound up here  -

Looking out over Yea and surrounds -

After lunch, headed over to Native Dog Road -

then stopped at Cheviot Tunnel -

From here, rode back via Murrindindi with what was left of the crew, who then split up again near Toolangi. I followed Glitch & ozav8r (I think) onto Old Mount Slide Road which took us down to Steels Creek. Great road, very entertaining loose gravel switchbacks through fern gullys.

For once I was OK eating dust, as 3rd out of 3 I could practice novice-level standing up + rear wheel braking + knee steering  with no-one to witness the resulting unconventional cornering lines .

Short stop in Steels Creek where Glitch took that gross mug shot of me , before splitting to head home via Gruyure.

Back in the cave, I took out the air filter to see how much dust the silicon-sealed Unifilter had collected. Looks like it's done its job -

For interest, I averaged almost bang-on 4litres / 100km for the day.

Thanks all for a great day out :applause: .

Good photos, I used to live in Broadford until about 3 years ago, last time I rode through the Cheviot Tunnel it was still ballast on the ground. The bridge at the Strath Ck end of Upper King Parrot Creek road was put in in 2000/1. Our builder lived on a property fairly close to the Strath end and it was a a fairly rough ford to get across then. They have also improved the lookout over the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

You wouldn't recognize some of the places anymore...the old Seymour-Mansfield rail line was just completed as a RailTrail 18 mths ago. Cheviot Tunnel had a major spruce up, carparks each end etc....and it's part of the RailTrail, of course. I also remember the tunnel full of 6-10" deep ballast-gravel.

Yo, the new lookout was built about 3 years ago and the entry to Horans Track has been "2WD-ed". There've been major works going on in+around Tallarook State Forest, a new carpark at the Strath Falls lookout and, and...
But there's still a lot of good riding up there...

Scenic Rim? Might catch up in March perhaps, there's a bigger ride by the AusTouring mob getting organized at the moment and we'll have at least 2 TR's along.
