Nice! Sorry I missed it but great to see some pics. Would also like to know the "easy" way to remove the side panel front clip as mentioned. BTW, that front sprocket cage looks fantastic.
Nope, that was the method which was employed. On my bike I have found that after the panel has been removed a few times it becomes easier to slide in and out of position.
...and to think that I've farted around the last few months, trying desperately to be ever so careful to not finish up with a bagful of busted Tupperware
Nice shot of my arse... and you caught me wearing the t-shirt I got from a bike shop in Asheville. Lucky my banjo was out of frame LOL. As a matter of fact, that there is a photo of 3 Australian TR650 owners who've all been motorcycle riding over in the USA. I wonder how many US TR650 owners who've been riding in Australia could get in a photo together...?
That's what I thought, too I was rather wondering if Tim's pants caught fire with that soldering iron by his right boot? Hey...right you are! Never thought of that.
Man, you're pushing it Then again....don't gimme any ideas, this could turn into a major credit-card-bashing affair. Would absolutely LOVE another 3 weeks in CA/OR/WA and a few other bits...or realize my long-hedged dream of New England/ Maine/ the North-East in autumn-colours (Sept-Oct). (read a ride-report with pics over 30 years ago, long before "the net" existed...still got those pics in front of my eyes!!). All those covered bridges, golden poplars, little towns....and single-laners snaking through the country-side... Then, there's the Rockies...and the deserts of NM.. DRZCharlie started a RR on ADV about a ride along the Mississippi and all the places and breweries along that big river, wouldn't THAT be a cracker?....and...and...LOVE the place! Awesome folks, too!
Gees I'm jealous. Would have loved to pop in if a bit closer (11hrs just a but far). Sounds like a fantastic day. Great work guys!
I have the tracks with some 145 waypoints. If you want them no worries, just send me a PM and I'll email them to you. We leave on the 18th for 14-18 days depending on how hungover we are in the mornings. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=24790565#post24790565
Congrats You´ve earned my undying admiration. Could only have happened where you are. So, wish I weren´t here.
Without any clue of what it's like, I'll hang onto every word and pic of that RR, following you just one step behind. Lets talk about the waypoints later on...you might find some other 'diversions" while enroute, 2 weeks+ are a decent enough stretch to veer off the chosen track quite a bit. A big thanks for the offer!!
Yo, Blue Mtns. are a bit far for a day . There'll be some TR-owners in the greater Sydney area, I'm sure. Perhaps just post up a day like that with 6-8weeks lead-time for getting parts and Ebay bits and all that, then get together? Berlin isn't too shabby!
Basically the track starts about 100 miles north of St. Louis, Missouri along the Mississippi River and goes north to La Crosse, Wisconsin on the west side of the river and then we turn south and come down the east side of the river back to near St. Louis at Alton, Illinois. The trail loosely follows the "Great River Road" http://experiencemississippiriver.com/ There is a lot of kitschy stuff but alot of really cool places and historical sites along the way. http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=29270&start=30 Mostly the scenery is fantastic and you can go mild and stay on state and county roads or get on gravel. And do some exploring. A good mix. Can you display .gpx tracks here? I don't think so but maybe someone else knows for sure.
There are a few online sites to open and display GPS files of most types, all that's needed is the file itself. http://geo.gillcouto.com/upload.cgi http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ I just LOVE the idea of following a river via roads and tracks and eat+drink the local stuff along the way.
A group of blokes wearing T shirts in Melbourne in Winter....RESPECT ! ( from a North Queenslander who just moved to Bundaberg and is freezing, even though I am still in Queensland. 1000km south of my original home. I can't even imaging what it's like 3000km south)
To be honest, it was a lovely day, and the sun was shining (warmest day we've had this month, 15°C) with little or no wind other than what was coming out of the rear ends, and lots of hot air coming out of people's mouths and I started sweating at the sight of the hacksaw blade slicing through the lid of my airbox.
I think we wasted our time doing the pod mods. Since the mod was done 3,500km ago, I've thrown away 2 filthy pre-filters, and re-oiled my pod filter once or twice, but the pre-filter is doing all of the work, and I mean all of the work. Barely a spec of dust in the airbox, and the pod filter still looks new.
Hi Nev, Could you please post a few pic's of your Pre-Filters. And maybe a brief description of how they fit inot the bike. Thanks!
