7x David Pearson, Panaca, Nev./Mike Childress, Wrightwood, Calif./Ivan Ramirez, Ensenada, Mexico/Shane Esposito, Lake Elsinore, Calif./Steve Hengeveld, Oak Hills, Calif., KTM 530XCW 7x out of the race, blown engine... 11x Mark Bradford/Stephen Bradford, City of Industry, Calif./Manny Ornellas, Redding, Calif./Kelly Malobovich, Phelan, Calif./Mark Fillerbrown, Allentown, Pa., Honda CRF450X 11x [STRIKE](Honda B team)[/STRIKE] out of the race at Honda pit #3.
WTF,,,, when the heck is KTM going to get their guys on the friggan podium at least. I wanted to see them do well, for nothing else but to shut some of the Honda is God guys up. And even with the Honda B team out Honda is still God in their eyes and all the Baja Honda SoCal backers will focus everything on the demise of the still crappy KTM.......again with no mention of any issues of their(chosen) brands machines!! As a race fan its tiring but by the same token, there really is no other factory engineering effort other than Honda in Baja and no other other brand has the team logistics and budget that JCR/Honda has. Its about as close as 1 team of big sponsor/factory MX against a boatload of privateer MX efforts. I think that by now the Honda engineering dept has all the engine tolerances dialed in for long lasting motors and by the looks of KTM does not. I have more to say but will refrain from printing it. Ask me in person I will comment.
Proof once again I make mistakes. I edited my post, you could edit your prior post as well, so that people skimming this thread don't get too confused.
Just an FYI, 305x has some friends from Bend, OR on the team. If you have the time and energy, I'd like to know how they're doing WoodsChick
This is all I've gotten so far, my guess is others may be listening to the weathermans audio feed closer than I. 5x check point 1 - 846am check point 2 - 953am 10x check point 1 - 848am check point 2 - 954am 305x check point 1 - 853am check point 2 - 1001am
Sadly the weathermans audio feed seems to have stopped working. I almost expected a server crash before this though. race-desert forums are down as well. So the updates will be far less frequent for the time being.
Well, as of 4:24pm today 305x was about 25 miles southwest of Bay of LA. I don't know what that means... WoodsChick
5x check point 1 - 846am check point 2 - 953am 10x check point 1 - 848am check point 2 - 954am Bay of LA - 4:11pm 305x check point 1 - 853am check point 2 - 1001am Bay of LA - 359pm
It means they are doing 'ok'? Not sure. The fact that they are moving right along is good news. Part of the problem is that I am piecing together 3 different sources of information, and they are all using different reference points/locations e.g. bay of LA vs Baja Pits number vs Mile marker... The guys in the front 1x & 8x are really hauling, 60mph?
update. Apparently the weatherman was unavailable for a while, he should be back online soon. Baja pits 11 (that may not be the pit that 10x is using) RM 559 1x 335pm 8x 442pm (then a bunch of bikes) 5x 627pm (then a bunch of bikes) 305x 733pm (then a bunch of bikes) No mention of 10x
This is the first year I've really followed the race closely. There are strange things that happen in baja during this race. Not sure I'd ever want to be a part of it. edit: 5X at RM593 - 9:30 PM 34 miles in 3 hours?
Picking up some local Mex radio chatter on Weatherman Feed #4. Sounds like a 306x chase guy talking with someone else. I think 306x is local Mex fast guy Francisco Septien. Saying he is 3rd bike on course and waiting for his bike on Hwy 22 (Between Ciuidad Constitucion and Scorpion Bay). Also reporting heavy fog in the area. Yes, that area can get really foggy down there/ MItch
1st bike past race mile 880 as of 20 minutes ago. Assuming its the 1x Honda bike. Any word on our CH racer Jim Owens (10x)?
Actually, Scotty B at TT reporting 1x past RM 920. 8x (Honda B) over an hour behind. Weatherman just went live up in the air (He's in a plane). Just lifted off from La Paz and will assume Weatherman radio relay from down south.
McMillan Chase and Honda chase reporting 8x down at Rm 784 (San Javier). Rider down, reported to be unconsciuos (Justin Imhoff) local D-37 racer and first time in Baja racing with Honda on JCR B team. Pray that he will be okay. Thats a really bad area to be hurt in. Out in the middle of nowhere...
